Job Summary:

 

Reporting to the Chief Clinical Operating Officer, the co-Directors of the Systemic Therapy Program (STP), are passionate, have a can-do attitude, and are willing to challenge themselves in an evolving and fast-paced cancer organization that serves all Manitobans. The Director will lead and assist with driving continued innovation and service excellence in patient services and pharmacy operations of the Systemic Therapy Program. This position is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of CancerCare Manitoba’s provincial systemic therapy services. The Director will oversee the overall operations of the program including but not limited to patient and pharmacy services, people and processes management, and financial monitoring.

 

The Director of Patient Services, STP oversees the delivery of safe, equitable, and high-quality cancer systemic treatment. This role provides leadership to multidisciplinary teams and collaborates with internal and external partners to ensure the delivery of person-centered, culturally safe care across Manitoba.

 

The Director guides the development and implementation of innovative, evidence-informed service models to meet the needs of Manitobans, with particular attention to improving access to care closer to home and reducing disparities in cancer outcomes. The portfolio includes oversight of systemic therapy delivery sites, clinical practice standards, patient education, supportive care related to treatment, innovation, and clinical staff training and development.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Required:

Level of Formal Education & Experience

 

A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline such as Nursing, Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, or Business Administration is required.

 

7 years of progressive experience leading a broad spectrum of health services in a publicly funded health services delivery organization. 5 years of management experience within the healthcare field is required. 3 years of management experience leading a clinical operations team within a unionized environment is desired. 3 years of experience implementing program planning, development and evaluation.

An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Skills and Abilities:

 

Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, communications and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to adeptly manage multiple requests and exhibits exceptional time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Relevant healthcare-related management courses are an asset, including but not limited to change management, patient satisfaction and experience, multidisciplinary team environments, conflict resolution, and quality improvement. Proven ability to negotiate and mediate resolutions to complex situations. Ability to lead people, manage change, develop strategy and execute plans. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including the ability to make effective presentations to groups. Knowledge of health equity issues and social determinants of health and their impact on patient outcomes and experience. Understanding of various reports, including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015). Model and support full team commitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism. Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada. Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports.

 

Required Licences, Registrations, Designations:

 

An active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body is required, as appropriate. Membership in a professional association is preferred (e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba, Canadian Association of Pharmacy in Oncology, etc.).

 

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

 

Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings and to lift and carry items. Interruptions to respond to questions from executives and partner organizations are common; dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled. Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the province.
