Director of Operational Safety and Compliance

Job Summary:\n

Responsible for administering, evaluating, and overseeing a program of operational system inspection and risk mitigation, along with comprehensive safety programs that address vertical transportation safety, OSHA regulations, vehicle safety, and building systems safety. This position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position must be able to respond to emergencies at any time. \n

Job Duties:\n

Building Systems Safety: \n\nEvaluate programs to periodically inspect and review the functionality and safety of all building systems, including structural, electrical, plumbing, drainage, HVAC, and fire safety systems. \nCoordinate regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards and regulations. \nOrganize and administer all required documentation.\n\n

Vertical Transportation Safety: \n\nEvaluate programs to review the safe operation and maintenance of elevators, escalators, and other vertical transportation systems. \nCoordinate regular inspections and coordinate with maintenance teams to address any issues promptly. \nOrganize and administer all required documentation for licensing, including maintenance logs. \nMaintain all records required for applicable licensing requirements.\n\n

OSHA Regulations: \n\nDevelop and administer policies and procedures that comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. \nConduct regular training sessions for staff to ensure compliance and promote a culture of safety.\n\n

Vehicle Safety: \n\nOversee the safety protocols for all vehicles operating within the venue. \nDevelop and administer procedures for regular inspection and maintenance of vehicles, and check compliance. \nCoordinate training of all operators on proper vehicle safety.\n\n

Risk Management: \n\nIdentify potential safety risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. \nConduct regular risk assessments and implement corrective actions as needed including all relevant stakeholders. \nWork closely with the company's Risk Manager as issues are identified and are addressed.\n\n

Safety Audits: \n\nConduct regular safety audits to evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and procedures. \nIdentify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. \nEnsure that all audits are thoroughly documented and reported to senior management.\n\n

Compliance: \n\nEnsure compliance with all local, state, and federal code and safety regulations. \nStay updated on changes to safety laws and regulations and adjust policies accordingly.\n\n

Reporting: \n\nMaintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions. \nPrepare regular reports for senior management, risk management, and regulatory agencies.\n\n

Staff Training: \n\nDevelop and implement comprehensive training programs for all staff members on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and compliance with safety regulations.\n Conduct regular training sessions and refreshers to ensure all staff are knowledgeable and prepared.\n\n

Education\/Experience Required:\n\nBachelor's degree in safety management, Occupational Health, Engineering, Construction Administration or a related field.\nMinimum of 7-10 years of experience in facility management and\/or safety management, preferably in a large venue or similar environment.\nIn-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards, including, possession of OSHA General Industry Trainer Card (or ability to obtain such certification).\nExperience with vertical transportation systems, vehicle safety, and building systems safety.\nStrong leadership and communication skills.\nAbility to work under pressure and handle emergency situations effectively.\nStrong organizational skills required, including the ability to maintain documentation and prepare and submit all required documents to licensing authorities.\nAnalytical and problem-solving skills.\nAttention to detail.\nProficiency in safety management software.\nExperience with safety training is preferred.\nCertification in safety management or related field is preferred.\n
