Director of On-Prem Architecture & Automation
**Job Description Summary** The Director of Architecture & Automation will own the strategy for the design, creation and delivery of on-prem hosting technology and automation for GE Aerospace. In this role, you will lead GE technical subject matter experts and architects, partnering closely with stakeholders across GE Aerospace stakeholders includes sites leaders, networks SME’s and cloud leaders to develop a comprehensive strategy for on-prem infrastructure technology and future automation that deliver competitive advantages and meet business needs. **Job Description** **Essential Responsibilities:** **In this role you will:** + Lead a global team to design, build, and standardize on-prem hosting infrastructure and automation across compute, virtualization, storage, and data centre/CoLo services + Own the automation pipeline and technical continuous service improvement plan for on-prem hosting + Define SMART milestones that reduce risk and compliance challenges and time to value for our customers. + Leverage cloud-first principles to implement hybrid cloud solutions at data centers, CoLo facilities, and remote manufacturing sites, optimizing performance, scalability, and reliability. + Partner with multiple teams across Aerospace DT, including Cyber and CxO teams to create shared strategic roadmaps for on-prem hosting technology. Communicate these plans to Business stakeholders for awareness and adoption. Do this with a _cloud first_ thinking mindset. + Demonstrate a rounded, strong technical leadership combined with people management skills including solid communication and analytical skills with thorough understanding of successful problem definition, decomposition, estimation, and resolution. + Build, coach, mentor and nurture world class technical team for on-prem hosting technology. + Own capacity, velocity, and backlog across GE on-prem hosting technologists to ensure business priorities are met + Foster a culture of innovation, urgency, and adaptability within the team, driving measurable outcomes such as reduced technical debt, improved automation efficiency, and enhanced hosting scalability + Own, develop and steer a clear technical roadmap that eradicates obsolescence and reduces risk across hardware and operating systems. + Strategic leadership of internal automation products and platforms to improve team capabilities and efficiency for internal and external stakeholders. + Implement lean principals, ensure standard work/ SOPs, process automation, quality assurance and testing to delivered by the team, on-time with a high degree of accuracy. + Drive a culture of high say/do ratio and impact-based timelines for delivery. Encourage team to drive value through urgency and ability to adapt quickly. + Drive empowerment of deliverables and outcomes with your team through an automation mindset + Drive FLIGHT DECK across the technical SME’s, including APPS and DVM + Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of GE Aerospace business direction, strategy, and GE Aerospace results. + Continually ensure value for money, choose optimal technology solutions that align strategically & commercially for global infrastructure. + Drive a culture of automation across the organization. Drive towards a clear North Star of Automation, Platform Engineering and future observability across on-prem services. + Lead difficult conversations with CXO teams related to eradication of obsolete HW and OS across application portfolios. **Basic Qualifications:** **For US Candidates only:** + Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 8 years of professional experience OR Associates degree with minimum of 11 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 13 years of professional experience + A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in infrastructure services and hosting (Compute, virtualization, storage) technologies. + Experience working in an ITIL environment + Relevant technical accreditations and certifications + ITIL3 and/or ITIL4 foundation certified + Experience leading automation of on-prem infrastructure for Enterprise CoLo’s and Data Centre’s. + Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience **Eligibility Requirement:** + Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
