The Director of New Product Planning (Antibodies) is responsible for managing new product development (NPD) pipeline operations and KPI reporting at a global level, supporting delivery of new products at scale and maximizing use of R&D resources. This is a highly collaborative, global role that will ensure improved visibility and planning of NPD activities and support delivery of our new product programs to align R&D capacity with commercial strategies helping us deliver high quality new products to our customers to support their research.  


This position reports to the VP of New Product Development & Strategy and is part of the Research and Development team located in Cambridge UK and will be on-site.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Optimize new product development pipeline operations at a global level to ensure inputs, outputs and KPIs are aligned globally; integrated product lines are carefully managed across sites; and resources are optimized across R&D teams (working in collaboration with senior R&D leaders, regional operation leads and finance).

Lead a small high-performing team (1-3) with expert R&D process and systems knowledge

Define and manage the medium to long term delivery of the NPI portfolio plan in partnership with Product Management teams, to ensure maximization of ROI, pragmatic use of resources, and successful delivery of product programs.

Manage and report on Key Performance Indicators, presenting these to senior and executive leadership teams.

Support the leadership team with building of the strategic plan, defining priorities, assessing critical decisions, mitigating risks and implementing required actions to adjust to changes. This includes partnering closely with Product Portfolio teams and cross-functional leaders.

The essential requirements of the job include:

Strong operations/project/programme management background, within the life sciences sector.

Solid career journey showing experience in progressively more senior and complex roles involving some or all of the following: strategy, leadership, new product introductions, new product development, project management, financial management, product planning.

Significant experience leading and developing teams, with ability to empower individuals and build productive working relationships across functions, creating great professional relationships and people that want to work with you.

Demonstrated ability to manage and optimize KPI reporting and distill various inputs to succinct, clear insights to enable decision-making and resolve ambiguity.

Demonstrated experience partnering cross-functionally, contributing to strategy, assessing risk with the ability to “look around corners”, and influencing without direct line management authority

Organized approach to simplifying complex data along with excellent executive presentation & communication skills.
