Analyze maintenance costs and provide recommendations on fleet utilization and replacement. Track fleet usage and maintain accurate inventory of equipment. Manages maintenance personnel including recommending discipline. Negotiate service agreements to ensure cost efficiencies. Communicate maintenance requirements to ensure maximum efficiency and implement corrective actions are required. Development of the maintenance budget. Monitors technician performance in a manner consistent with company/location policy. Ensures that all mechanics have the proper licenses and certifications including yard permits. Forecast additional funding needed for staffing, equipment repairs, materials, and supplies. Coordinates outside fleet repairs, identifies and place orders for repair/replacement parts (i.e. engines, etc.) for vehicles, etc. Provides technical assistance and on-the-job training to mechanics. Develops work orders and the evaluation of all repairs performed by both the technicians and outside vendors Prepare regular weekly and monthly maintenance reports and parts usage for management appraisal as required. Responsible for vehicle titles, registration, DOT tax stamp; which includes Vehicle Change Notice's and annual registration fees. Assists to ensure DOT compliance and inspections of revenue and service equipment. Other duties to ensure the efficient operation of the maintenance facility.Qualifications:  Bachelors Degree preferred. Minimum 3+ years experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of automotive and transit equipment or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience overseeing managing employees on multiple shifts required. Knowledge of diesel engines and/or internal combustion engines, automatic transmissions, air brakes, steering, and drivelines. Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. ASE certification and CDL preferred. Must have strong organizational skills and have basic math skills for tracking trend and for report writing. Excellent interpersonal communication, verbal, and written skills a must. Must be able to work in a fast pace environment. Proficiency in Word packages, spreadsheet, and RTA experience. Must be able to perform complex technical and administrative work over-seeing the maintenance program to the standards set by the company and client. Detailed and task orientated, well organized, and possess effective time management skills. Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information/situations. Must be a team player and able to work well with a diverse group of internal and external customers. Subject to DOT drug testing.
