About the Role

The Director of Investment Consulting leads a specialized internal consultancy within the Group Investment Function. Reporting directly to the Group Chief Investment Officer, the Director oversees a team of professionals, guiding strategic initiatives that enhance the Group’s investment performance and capabilities across AIA Business Units and Asset Management Companies.

This role serves as a cornerstone in shaping the Group's investment strategy, bridging the finance and investment functions. Through close collaboration with Chief Investment Officers (CIOs) and senior executives of captive asset management companies, they spearhead transformational initiatives and provide expert guidance on strategic asset allocation and implementation of asset class strategies.

Roles and Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership and Innovation:

Help design and transform the Group Investment Function into a strategic driver of Group financial outcomes by identifying the need for new capabilities, opportunities for greater efficiency, and opportunities for enhanced performanceWork with the Group Investment Management team to plan initiatives to address those needs and opportunities, incorporating resourcing and impact assessment into a strategic roadmapDrive initiatives to deliver the outcomes intended on the strategic roadmap, from planning to executionGuide changes to the Group-wide Asset Allocation processes, incorporating asset-liability management (ALM), derivatives, and financial engineering solutions to align risk, return, and capital objectives


Stakeholder Engagement:

Partner with Group CIO, and other senior investment leaders to prioritize, scope, and execute key investment initiativesCollaborate with and advise BU CIOs, asset class leaders, and technical specialists to define and implement Group-wide, BU, and Fund-level investment strategies that maximize risk- and capital-adjusted returnsTransparently coordinate with Risk, Finance, and broader Group functions, using influence, challenge, and alignment to navigate differences and achieve joint outcomes


Investment Optimization and Analytics:

Oversee the development of methodologies, processes, and systems for investment performance reporting, advanced analytics, and predictive modelingManage specialists in risk, derivatives, actuarial, and quantitative analytics across investments and related functions to achieve strategic goalsEnhance private market allocation planning, ensuring alignment with long-term growth and risk management objectives


Operational Excellence:

Design and implement performance reporting frameworks to reveal the value added by decisions taken by investment teamsAct as a centralized source of expertise, advice, and support for technical investment-related challenges, maintaining connections with counterparties, consultants, and system providers as needed


Team and Organisational Leadership:

Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of professionals, fostering a high-performance culture aligned with the Group’s strategic prioritiesAct as a thought leader and influencer within the Group, contributing to broader organizational discussions
