Thales Australia seeks a tenacious Director of Internal Communications and CEO Engagement to join our Corporate team.
In this pivotal role, you will work with the Chief Communications Officer, Head of Corporate Communications, and CEO to lead and execute an integrated internal communications and CEO engagement agenda. As the owner and champion of internal communications, you will foster a high-performance culture, drive clarity and connection across the business, and protect and enhance our reputation on a national scale.
This position will be based at our Melbourne World Trade Centre (Hybrid developed working model). There will also be need for regular interstate travel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In partnership with the Chief Communications Officer, own and deliver the internal communications and CEO positioning strategy, ensuring strong alignment to business goals.Help deliver end-to-end internal campaigns and CEO-led communications, including Town Halls, site visits, safety and culture engagement, and major business updates.Champion the voice, tone, and clarity of all internal communications, establishing best practice guidance across the business.Draft, edit, and approve executive communicationsCo-lead planning and delivery of flagship events and marquee innovation initiatives.Partner with internal stakeholders and global Group Communications teams.Measure impact across campaigns and business touchpoints, continuously improving communications effectiveness.Support CEO thought leadership with compelling, values-driven storytelling.Ensure robust CEO briefing material, talking points, and protocols for issues management and executive alignment.Consistently deliver authentic, high-quality leadership and executive communications at pace to dispersed, cross-functional audiences.KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field preferred.Demonstrated experience in a high-level internal/executive communications management role, ideally in a complex, matrixed environment.Proven ability to deliver multi-channel strategies that align with business objectives and amplify executive voice.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; mastery in translating complex concepts for diverse audiences.Experience navigating sensitive issues, with discretion and professional judgement.Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills—able to influence senior leaders and drive consensus.Advanced event management, campaign management, and communications planning abilities.Experience with government, defence, or regulated sectors is highly regarded.It’s easy to dismiss the perfect opportunity if you don’t see yourself as the perfect fit.
