Maintains efficient and well-organized department as well as good relations with staff, hospital personnel and committees. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Directs and coordinates all functions of medical records department in order to comply with all hospital, medical staff and JCAHO requirements. Acts as legal custodian of medical records. Assists with utilization management functions. Assists with quality improvement functions. Reviews and monitors use of medical record forms. Actively participates in hospital and staff committees. Conducts medical record department meetings. Coordinates functions of the department with other hospital departments and the medical staff. Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates staff for medical records, transcription and utilization review. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education x High school diploma or equivalent □ Preferred x Required x Graduate of a Program in Discipline □ Preferred x Required RHIA, RHIT, or CCS. One to two (1-2) years experience as a Director of Health Information Management of a medical recordsdepartment with experience in quality assurance and utilization management functions. Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
