Position Summary:
The Director of Facilities Management is responsible for leading the maintenance, construction, renovation, and general operations of University facilities. This role ensures that all campus buildings and infrastructure are safe, functional, and meet institutional goals, while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, codes, and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage facility operations and capital projects within established budgets. Oversee new construction, renovation, and facility upgrades in collaboration with architects, engineers, and contractors. Ensure all construction and maintenance work meets regulatory and code compliance. Plan, review, and coordinate space utilization, project timelines, and facility improvements. Supervise facilities staff and outside vendors to ensure timely and quality execution of work. Work closely with University leadership to assess needs and align facility plans with campus priorities. Manage maintenance and repair programs for building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety. Oversee the operation and maintenance of security systems, including access control, cameras, and alarm systems. Coordinate emergency repairs and disaster response planning for physical infrastructure. Conduct facility inspections, implement safety protocols, and ensure routine compliance reporting. Manage landlord and lease relationships to ensure tenant obligations are met. Track project progress, quality, and budget through appropriate reporting tools. Support special projects and initiatives as assigned.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in facilities operations, construction management, or general contracting. Experience managing contractors, budgets, and facility maintenance programs. Strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, and compliance standards. Proficiency with facility management systems (e.g., CMMS) and project tracking software.Skills and Competencies:
Strong leadership and team management capabilities. Effective communication and coordination skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
