NATIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR MUSEUM

The National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas will serve as the premier national institution dedicated to the stories, impact, and legacy of the service members who went on to become Medal of Honor recipients.

Neither a war memorial nor a military museum, the National Medal of Honor Museum is a humbling endeavor that will take visitors on a narrative journey through the life stories of ordinary people who made extraordinary choices above and beyond the call of duty.

The museum footprint encompasses over 100,000 square feet, cornering five acres of waterfront in Arlington, Texas with over 31,000 square feet of Exhibition Galleries as well as dedicated spaces for meetings, symposiums, memorials, and ceremonies.

THE ROLE 

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Event Sales will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies across private events which maximize revenue. This position will be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and motivating the team to optimize sales team performance. The ideal candidate should have multiple years of first-hand sales and management experience. They should be comfortable analyzing performance metrics, data and analytics and how to utilize the information available to forecast and drive decision making. The Director of Event Sales should be comfortable speaking in public, a proven team leader, and can create and manage a positive and dynamic sales culture. 

ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as department head for event sales functions, leading a team of managers overseeing various sales functions including private events and catering. Direct experience related to the development and execution of sales strategies, campaigns, and initiatives related to private events. Create and implement regular training initiatives which increase sales representative productivity and elevate overall sales team performance. Proactively solicit new business by making sales calls and presentations, attending domestic and international trade shows and conferences, and engaging in other client prospecting. Work to create dashboards and virtual CRM reports to manage and track campaign performance and sales representative productivity. Participate in planning meetings to discuss cross-different departmental revenue opportunities and collaborate with other team members to support and further the sales department goals. Assist in the creation and management of a budget and business plan. Proactively solicit new business by making sales calls, creating presentations, leading sales events, and engaging in new client prospecting. Responsible for daily revenue tracking, campaign management and the regular communication of sales team performance to the Legends team. Maintain and grow relationships with customers and be a positive ambassador of the Legends brand internally and externally. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and adherence to all Legends company policies and procedures Monitor competitive programs and analyze consumer and tourism (international and domestic) marketplace trends on an on-going basis; identify key insights and adjust and enhance marketing plans accordingly. Update pricing models, refine ticketing price points and packages, and adjust revenue projections as required. Maintain open communications and effective collaborative relationships within Legends, the National Medal of Honor Foundation, and other relevant stakeholders. Develop and document standards for various private event procedures. Responsible for the upkeep and administrative tasks related to all sales-related software systems. Serve as an ambassador of the venue to key clients during their onsite tours as well as day of event touchpoints. Partner with Finance team to ensure all invoices, accounts payable, billing and transfers are processed and accurate prior to month end closing. Direct experience in the drafting and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and on the job training documents. Partner with internal and external marketing stakeholders to develop campaigns & strategies to drive sales. Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends & ASM policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE     

Minimum of 7 years' experience in high-volume sales management role. Proven record of meeting and exceeding sales targets in the field of private events. Bachelor's Degree from four-year College or university. Proven leadership experience in a sales environment including coaching, mentoring, hiring, training, and performance management.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Resourceful and innovative, with an entrepreneurial spirit and partnership-oriented mindset. Expertise in financial analysis, planning, budgeting, and deal structuring. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to develop and deliver sound recommendations to senior management. Organization and planning skills, ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks. Ability to work both traditional and non-traditional hours (nights, weekends, holidays). Ability to delegate effectively. Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and various ticketing systems. Practice safe work habits, follow all safety policies and procedures and regulations, complete company-wide safety training and any additional job specific safety training. Follow and encourage your team to follow all safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to looking for and reporting any unsafe working conditions, and complete company-wide safety training and any additional job specific safety training. Report all safety incidents (injuries and illnesses) into the company's risk management system (Origami Risk) on the same day that the safety incident has been repotted to you. Some travel (local, domestic, and international) may be required as dictated by business needs.
