This role is central to ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic quality of the property, while also driving sustainability, energy efficiency, and long-term asset protection. You will lead all engineering and maintenance operations, including the management of capital projects, preventative maintenance programs, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. As a key member of the Executive Committee, you will contribute to the strategic direction of the hotel and ensure that engineering operations support the brand’s commitment to excellence and timeless elegance. **CANDIDATE PROFILE** **Education and Experience** + High school diploma or GED; minimum 6 years of experience in engineering, facilities management, or a related field, with technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing systems. **OR** + 2-year degree in Engineering, Building & Construction, Mechanics, or a related discipline; minimum 4 years of relevant experience with technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing systems. + Experience in luxury hospitality and pre-opening environments is highly desirable. **CORE WORK ACTIVITIES** **Key Responsibilities** **Engineering Operations & Strategic Oversight** + Lead the engineering function with a focus on operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and asset longevity. + Oversee all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water treatment, and life safety systems. + Develop and implement a comprehensive engineering strategy aligned with the hotel’s business objectives and brand standards. + Manage departmental budgets, capital expenditure planning, and energy conservation initiatives. + Ensure timely and cost-effective execution of all engineering-related projects, including pre-opening infrastructure and systems setup. **Asset Protection & Preventative Maintenance** + Develop and execute long-term preventative maintenance and asset protection plans. + Ensure all equipment and systems are maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability. + Administer service contracts and vendor relationships to support operational needs. + Monitor and manage utilities consumption, identifying opportunities for sustainability and cost savings. **Compliance & Safety Leadership** + Ensure full compliance with local, national, and international regulations, including fire safety, environmental, and building codes. + Maintain all required licenses, permits, and certifications for the property. + Lead the hotel’s emergency response team and ensure all engineering staff are trained in safety protocols and emergency procedures. + Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety and operational standards. **Financial Management & Performance** + Monitor departmental performance against budget and implement corrective actions as needed. + Analyze financial reports and operational data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. + Participate in the development of capital expenditure plans and manage project execution within budget and timeline constraints. + Control departmental expenses including payroll, utilities, tools, and supplies. **Team Leadership & Development** + Build and lead a skilled, motivated, and service-oriented engineering team. + Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. + Conduct regular performance reviews and support career development through training and mentorship. + Ensure effective communication across the department and with other hotel teams to support seamless operations. **Please note: Applicants must have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom** _At Marriott International, we are dedicated to being an equal opportunity employer, welcoming all and providing access to opportunity.
