**Description:**
**Position Purpose**
Mercy Care is seeking a dynamic and strategic **Director of Philanthropic Engagement** to lead and grow our fundraising initiatives. This pivotal role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive philanthropic strategy encompassing annual giving, donor engagement, major gifts, and planned giving. The Director will play a key leadership role in advancing Mercy Care’s mission to provide compassionate healthcare to Atlanta’s underserved communities.
**What You Will Do**
**Mission Alignment & Leadership**
+ Embody and promote Mercy Care’s mission, vision, and values in all actions and decisions.
+ Foster a warm, welcoming, and calm environment for all stakeholders.
**Annual Fund & Direct Fundraising**
+ Develop and manage annual giving strategies (direct mail, digital, giving days, employee giving).
+ Plan and execute fundraising events.
+ Maintain a donor portfolio with a personal fundraising goal of $800K–$1.2M annually. ****
**Donor Engagement & Stewardship**
+ Design innovative donor acquisition and stewardship strategies.
+ Manage donor recognition programs and provide regular engagement reports.
**Major & Planned Giving**
+ Cultivate and steward major gift donors ($10K+).
+ Lead the planned giving program and manage the Circle of Mercy.
+ Collaborate with internal teams to identify prospective donors.
**Prospect Management & Research**
+ Partner with the Database Manager to monitor donor pipeline and conduct research.
+ Create tailored engagement strategies based on donor history and capacity.
**Communications & Marketing**
+ Develop compelling fundraising materials and campaign content.
+ Ensure brand consistency in collaboration with the Marketing team.
**Database & Digital Platforms**
+ Oversee online giving platforms and donor recordkeeping.
+ Utilize CRM tools (e.g., Blackbaud) to track donor interactions and campaign metrics.
**Team Leadership & Development**
+ Determine staffing needs and lead recruitment and onboarding.
+ Manage scheduling, workflow, and compliance with departmental standards.
+ Mentor, coach, and support staff development and performance.
+ Drive employee retention through engagement and team-building strategies.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree required; Communications, Marketing, or related field preferred. A combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
+ 7–10 years of nonprofit development experience, with proven success in major gifts. annual giving, and donor engagement. Healthcare philanthropy experience is a plus.
+ Proficiency in Blackbaud CRM and digital fundraising platforms.
+ Strong communication, strategic thinking, and project management skills.
+ Passion for health equity and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
+ Demonstrates superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills appropriate for audience comprehension. Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral, that may be used either in an on-site or virtual environment, are required. Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.
