About URI:

BASIC FUNCTION:

To serve as the College of Education’s (COEDU) lead for community relations and recruitment. Key responsibilities include content creation, alumni engagement, recruiting, office management, and community building amongst students.

Duties and Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Effectively communicate the College’s overall mission, vision, and messaging to key audiences.

Develop, research, write, and edit articles, outreach materials, social media posts, and online content geared towards varying audiences.

Update the College’s websites with events and news and project developments.

Produce graphics, logos, forms, databases, searches, Web pages, and Website design for use on the Internet.

Maintain and enhance COEDU Website content and design.

Plan and coordinate all stages of annual report development, production, and distribution for the colleges.

Serve as the point person for photography and video assignments.

Attend College events and activities to gather information for outreach content.

Work closely with College’s leadership to support fundraising and stewardship mandates.

Engage with College Alumni through newsletters, outreach, and support the College Advisory Board.

Create a recruitment plan focused on specific program areas.

Attend conferences and college fairs in- and out-of-state (minimum of three per year). Serve as a point person to connect prospective students with College Faculty.

Maintain a good working relationship with other University departments and units. Monitor workflow by effectively managing and organizing projects and staff to meet demands within available resources.

Assess College requests for cost, resource allocation, design interface, technical implementation, and scheduling requirements in meeting web content standards and functional needs.

Manage the Office’s budget allocation. Expenses include personnel, inventory, travel and general operating costs. Monitor advertising inventory.

Supervise and train graduate and undergraduate students and interns. Create a positive work environment that encourages the exchange of ideas. Collaborate to develop events geared towards building a community with the College’s student population.

Devise systems to evaluate and report on the effectiveness of social media communications in addressing the needs of the University’s various audiences.

Develop an annual community relations and recruiting strategic plan to include measurable goals, strategic initiatives, and identify gaps.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as required.

LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:

G-suite (Google docs, sheets, slides, calendar), MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint; and image editing software (e.g., Adobe Suite); Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, TikTok, mobile phone and laptop, cameras.

Required Qualifications REQUIRED:

1. Master’s degree with a minimum of three years of full-time experience working with social media tools and metrics for a brand, company or organization, OR Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of seven years of full-time experience working with social media tools and metrics for a brand, company or organization.

2. Demonstrated experience with marketing campaigns.

3. Demonstrated experience using analytics (such as, Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, Google Analytics and/or Instagram Analytics) to measure effectiveness.

4. Demonstrated experience preparing audio and still photography both on desktop and mobile (such as Facebook Live, Instagram Stories, etc.).

5. Demonstrated experience preparing video both on desktop and mobile (such as Facebook Live, Instagram Stories, etc.).

6. Demonstrated experience preparing gifs and text for the Web/social media.

7. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

8. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

9. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

10. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing social media campaigns.

11. Demonstrated experience using social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).

12. Demonstrated experience with emerging technologies and tools with regard to social media, the Web, etc.

13. Demonstrated working knowledge of Adobe Suite or similar image/video editing software.

14. Demonstrated time management skills.

15. Demonstrated experience using mobile phone technology for social platforms (including photos and videos).

16. Demonstrated experience using laptop and digital cameras.

17. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED:

1. Demonstrated knowledge of current events and news (including issues affecting the University directly and those generated by University activities and policies).

2. Demonstrated professional experience in a higher education environment.

3. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

4. Demonstrated familiarity and experience with social media analytic tools, such as Sprout Social.

5. Demonstrated familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, XML or other standard Web publishing tools.

6. Demonstrated familiarity with the Associated Press news writing style.

7. Demonstrated understanding of data-driven Web environments, Web scripting languages and trends in mobile devices.

8. Demonstrated experience with WordPress as a content management system.
