The Director Solutions Delivery – Merchandise serves as the primary liaison between IT and the company’s Merchandise departments, for both Dollar Tree and Family Dollar. This Director partners with each department’s leadership team to define and prioritize its multi-year technology roadmap. The Director also manages a team of Delivery Managers, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts and Developers who plan and execute the roadmap projects, in partnership with other internal and external resources, on time, on scope and within budget. Occasionally this Director may be asked to personally run some of the company’s most strategic initiatives. This role must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of management both within and outside of the IT department.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Serve as leader of the Merchandise technology teamDefine technology roadmaps that align to long term business objectives for the companyLead and mentor team of Delivery Managers, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts and DevelopersCreate and manage annual IT capital budgets for the Merchandise domainsPerform team capacity planning, work prioritization and resource allocationProvide regular status and risk reporting to IT and business senior leadershipPartner with business and operations on production support and ongoing solution enhancementsDefine and ensure adherence to project management processes, templates, standardsMonitor the software market for relevant solutions; assist with vendor selection RFPsLead or serve on departmental process improvement initiativesDevelop partnerships with the following key stakeholdersBusiness leaders to identify requirements and prioritize technology initiativesExecutive sponsors to document scope and approve project chartersIT networking, engineering and security to maintain compliance with corporate standardsQA to define testing strategy and execute regression and user acceptance testingTraining to define training strategy, develop materials and deliver trainingInternal Audit to ensure project controls and SDLC processes are followedIT Operations to ensure a successful transition to supportProcurement team to evaluate potential solution providersLegal team to negotiate new contracts and renewalsExternal software providers, systems integrators and other vendorsOccasionally serve as primary project lead on strategic initiativesDetermine appropriate project structure, work streams and team leadDevelop and maintain project plans with detailed tasks, activities, deliverables and timelinesManage and evaluate project resource requirementsContinuously assess and re-evaluate project priorities; develop contingency plansFacilitate project schedules and meetingsDocument project decisions, action items, issues and risksMaintain project document repositoriesServe as primary liaison with external vendorsMaintain, manage and report on project financial budgets, actuals and forecasts.Prepare project status reports and steering committee presentations
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:Bachelors in business, computer science, MIS or other four-year related degree10-15 years of related work experience, with 3+ of senior management experience highly preferredPrior supervisory experience, preferably within an IT departmentExperience managing complex technology projectsMerchandise technology experience preferred but not requiredSourcing & Compliance systemsPlanning, Pricing and Promotion systemsProcurement to pay or ERP systems (Oracle, Blue Yonder)
