Director of Acquisition - General Insurance

We’re seeking an experienced insurance leader to plan, organize, lead, and control the full acquisition function for General Insurance division of our client – leading insurance company with local and global presence. You will own the GI acquisition strategy, secure optimal terms for clients, and uphold high professional standards across the team.

 

Main Responsibilities:

Lead the General Insurance Acquisition function: set targets, steer execution, and monitor performance and compliance Negotiate and secure best-possible terms in insurance contracts; ensure legality, appropriateness, and quality in underwriting and servicing Track market trends and competitive moves; propose portfolio enhancements and launch new GI products and guidelines Maintain and update policy wordings and documentation across key lines: Property, Financial Risks, Agriculture (crops & livestock), General Liability, Personal Accident, Cargo, CMR (Carrier’s Liability), and Marine Support corporate sales: attend client/broker meetings, structure offers, negotiate and close framework agreements (incl. with banks) Provide methodological support to the regional network in ; deliver training on products and new launches Coordinate tender (public procurement) documentation with GI and Motor Insurance units Safeguard confidential information and perform additional tasks assigned by management

 

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

5–10 years’ total experience, including 5+ years in insurance (preferably GI) with proven results in acquisition/sales and product work University degree in Insurance, Economics, or relevant discipline Solid understanding of insurance legislation, internal standards, and European GI practices Strong leadership in people management, strategic/operational planning, motivation and delegation Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills Analytical mindset, attention to detail, resilience, and strong results orientation Very good command of English (B2) and fluent/native  Bulgarian Proficiency in MS Office Valid driver’s license preferred

 

Reporting & Interationa

Reports to: Executive Director Works with internal business units; externally with clients, brokers, reinsurers, partners, and relevant institutions
