Job Summary

Dir Education Infrastructure Operations plans, directs, and coordinates medical education operations and infrastructure at Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH) and Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). This includes academic facilities, education technology, and other education infrastructure activities. Develops, implements, and communicates policies, procedures, and processes to support educational facilities, technologies, and academic support systems. This includes special projects, proposals, metrics, analytics, processes, and other education practices. Plans, organizes, controls, and coordinates education programs and projects. Ensures resources and processes are in place and project scope, timeframe, and budget requirements are met. Directs the implementation, execution, control, and completion of multiple activities. Ensures consistency with BSWH education strategy, commitments, and goals. Interacts with senior leadership, internal departments, and external stakeholders to support BSWH education and business goals.

An entity Director translates and implements strategic plans and goals for their area. They make final judgments on operational matters and ensure goals are achieved. They recommend policies and organizational changes for their area. They plan and execute projects and initiatives that meet annual goals. Erroneous judgments at this level can negatively impact the area's success, the business unit, and possibly the entire organization. They plan and direct the operations of a department or area, handling staffing, processes, budgets, and costs. They manage and advise subordinates to meet schedules, resolve technical problems, and monitor performance. They oversee a larger, more complex organization or functional area than a manager. Often, one or more managers or supervisors report to this role.

Essential Functions of the Role

Directs education operations and infrastructure for assigned area of responsibility for BSWH.Recommends and implements strategic and operational plans and goals for education operations aligned to BSWH overall business objectives.Collaborates with IT, Facilities, and other BSWH departments to design suitable education technology and academic facility services.Directs field technology support for the academic facilities. This includes classrooms, faculty and staff offices, conference rooms, student support offices, and student lounges.Directs space allocation, layout, education resource needs, and maintenance planning. Also manages contracting for education and security systems.Evaluates, assesses, and improves educational technologies, operational programs, procedures, and support services for BSWH Education.Monitors and coordinates the setup and teardown of furniture for special classroom setups. This includes installing and maintaining audio-visual technology and other presenter support.Manages and directs scheduled recordings for academic sessions or special presentations. Utilizes appropriate media and digital technologies. Ensures timely availability of recordings for learners and faculty.Ensures delivery of instructional technology support to faculty and staff for the learning management system and online testing platforms.Develops, monitors, and reports on education operations statistics, annual technology evaluations, compliance, and quality assurance reviews.

Key Success Factors

Bachelor’s degree in education, business, or related field preferred. Master’s degree preferred.3+ years of relevant experience, including medical education, education operations, and education technologies.Experience in a leadership role preferred.Lead education programs and infrastructure projects for instructor-led, web-based, and digital media instruction in higher education or healthcare teaching environments.Skills in project management and vendor management.Knowledge in current learning management systems and other instructional technologies.Knowledge of multimedia, e-learning platforms and methods.Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.Knowledge of AAMC,  ACGME, and ACCME accreditation standards and requirements.
