Responsible and accountable for the Department. In collaboration with the appropriate chairmen and chiefs, establishes and implements goals and objectives for the department aimed at enhancing revenue and improving the quality of care. Responsible for assuring that quality nursing care is delivered to patients by working through the nursing management team to define, implement and evaluate standards of nursing practice. Responsible for the personnel, operating and capital budgets for all assigned cost centers. Communicates hospital and departmental policy, philosophy and objectives to employees within the division, and works collaborating with other disciplines and departments in achieving institutional, divisional and unit goals and objectives.
Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Master’s degree in Nursing and five to seven years of previous work related experience, plus three to six months of on-the-job training and orientation. Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey. Work requires the analytical ability necessary to design highly-complex systems and programs, resolve problems requiring a comprehensive and state-of-the-art awareness of the technology and literature in a professional, technical or scientific field, or develop financial and operating plans for a large department.
