This position can be located in either Raritan, New Jersey or Ireland and may require up to 10% travel. The MedTech DATA & AI team is leading a digital transformation to better serve our customers with a specific focus on how we can most effectively use data and technology to leapfrog our competition. As such, we are looking for a Director of Data Engineering to join our team and lead Johnson & Johnson’s MedTech data curation efforts around our foundational data platforms to enable the future of Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence. We are seeking a creative problem solver with strong data and engineering skills who collaborate well with business partners to bring forth new ideas, challenges the status quo, delivers innovations, and determines how to best support the business through the effective use of technology. You will lead critical data platforms, supporting vendors and partner closely with our business peers to identify information needs and develop data products that deliver value beyond those that exist today. You will also have key input into the future state MedTech data architecture and strategy. The Director will supervise the teams responsible for data platforms which provide the core data for critical MedTech digital products, downstream applications and individual teams. This includes the MedTech Common Data Layer (CDL), a cloud-based data Lakehouse that ingests data from hundreds of source systems and serves it up in a more consumer-friendly manner. Additionally, the role will help lead and shape the maturity of other core functional data objects and platforms including Deliver and Planning MedTech data models. In addition, the ability to shape and influence the global MedTech AI data structure and strategy in support of new innovative Artificial Intelligence use-cases. Finally, this role will help scale the new _‘Digital Spine’_ platform that leverages graph database technology to provide relationship-based e2e data solutions. This platform will enable several MedTech use-cases for e2e material flow visibility, network strategy, lead time analysis, and much more. An additional team responsibility will be to ensure that existing data products using our Enterprise Data Lake (EDL) on Cloudera have a path to migrate to a future-date data platform in support of critical EDL sunset dates. As the director of these teams, you will use your people leadership skills to ensure the employees under your care are effectively coached and develop the innovative skills to move the business forward. This entails providing the vision as well as the day-to-day tactical leadership required to ensure products are delivered on-time with a high level of quality. Your sense of urgency and ability to drive teams to action will be crucial to the success of this role. **Key Responsibilities:** + Coordinate and deliver Data Engineering solutions for the MT Data & AI team. + Collaborate across teams globally, working with Business leads and senior business partners. + Responsible for defining, designing, and developing processes, roadmaps, technologies and tools for the across MedTech data domains. + Will work with our Transcend (SAP S4) team to accommodate the 2.0 platform and ensure data products are made available on time and on budget. + Works closely with Enterprise Common Data Layer leadership, architecture and others to optimize overall MT Data Platforms + Responsible for managing the product throughout the Product Lifecycle. + Define and implement strategies as well as support ongoing data needs across the MedTech business. + Ensures data acquisition, curation, accuracy and usability appropriately supports business partner needs at all levels of the organization. + Partner with business, internal and external technology partners to modernize data capabilities including Data Bricks, Microsoft (Fabric) required to innovate. + Recruit, develop, and grow team members with strong data engineering and analytics skills across multiple MedTech functions. + Lead a portfolio of simultaneous project workstreams by mitigating risk and resolving issues. + Partner with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and multi-functional teams to understand "as is" processes; develop, pilot, and implement improvements. + Deploy systematic data strategies, including automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other advanced analytics solutions. + Implement standard methodologies for data engineering to drive business value **Experience and Skills:** + A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required. An advanced degree within Analytics, Computer Sciences or Data Science is preferred. + A minimum of 8 years of IT related experience is required. + A minimum of 4 years in data related leadership roles is required. + Experience with people leadership and team management as well as talent recruitment, development, and retention. + Ability to rapidly understand business requirements, communicate expectations to multi-functional development teams, document data findings that can be easily understood is required. + Ability to assemble, analyze, and evaluate data and to drive appropriate recommendations and decisions for senior leaders and sponsors. + Highly analytical individual with experience and passion or solving complex problems through the analysis and visualization of data. + Experience with several MS Azure and Databricks is highly preferred. + Proven experience working with large data projects and Azure and/or data lake/warehouse environments is preferred + Agile / Scrum experience, including user story creation, product backlog prioritization, coordination with scrum teams. + Experience with JIRA is strongly recommended. + Ability to switch between multiple complex and fast-moving projects while maintaining high quality and rapid delivery. + Strong data product management experience including experience in building data and analytics platforms/solutions, data science / advanced analytics / intelligent automation solutions is preferred The anticipated base pay range for this position is $204000 to $276000. **Bonus** : - The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year.
