The GRS U.S. Middle Market Office of Underwriting team is hiring a Director to support key industry segments including Technology, Services, Real Estate, Retail.  This technical professional will use their deep technical expertise in commercial property casualty insurance to understand drivers to risk and performance and create consistent underwriting strategy, guidelines/reference material, and capabilities for lines of business written with these industries

 

This role reports to the Executive Underwriting Officer for Multi-industry

 

Job Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the Middle Market Underwriting Officers, the director proactively guides and participates in analysis of performance drivers to create and deliver industry-specific underwriting strategy and guidelinesResearches and develops strategies to address emerging risks and opportunities, as well as potential for exposure aggregationCreates underwriting reference and guidance materials (including creation and delivery of applicable training) to support profitable executionSupports creation of, and assists in delivering risk selection tools and capabilitiesStays up to date on business and macro trends to incorporate into strategiesMay provide subject matter expertise and advisory support on referralsManages moderate to high complexity multi-function projects, often including managing the work stream of othersConducts GRS Underwriting Quality Assurance file audits.

 

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of product offerings, business processes, product line systems, underwriting rules, pricing plans and databasesUnderstanding of commercial property/casualty insurance and actuarial concepts and financial metricsObjective and results-oriented with ability to deliver change in a complex insurance environment Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or other quantitative fieldMinimum 7, typically 10 years or more of relevant work experienceMaster's degree and/or ACAS or similar designation beneficialProficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis software (SAS, Access)Must have good planning, organizational, analytical, decision-making and communication skillsExperience managing projects preferred About Us

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
