Director - Cyber Security, GE Vernova Advanced Research
Job Description SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Director to lead the coordination of all cybersecurity and risk activities for the GE Vernova Advanced Research Center in Niskayuna, NY. This critical role will work closely with the GE Vernova Cybersecurity Team, the Digital Technology (DT) Team, and researchers to understand their needs and ensure the development and operation of cybersecurity solutions that meet business requirements and regulatory compliance. The Cyber Security Director will also provide leadership and guidance on CMMC certification and other compliance standards required by government agencies, ensuring the research center's cybersecurity posture is aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

Act as Site Information Protection & Security Leader for the Niskayuna locationProvide leadership and guidance on CMMC certification and compliance standardsEstablish guardrails and develop processes to ensure teams adhere to these guardrailsWork with global project leaders to ensure timely and successful implementation of all information protection systems and programsCoordinate day-to-day cybersecurity operational activities in NiskayunaPartner with local and global team members in GE Vernova Advanced Research and GE Vernova to deliver secure IT solutionsLead and coordinate site IT-security & compliance audit programsWork with site business leadership to understand their requirements and develop cybersecurity & risk management solutions that meet their needs and align with the global cybersecurity strategyPartner with the Externals team to ensure US Government projects are bid & executed in compliance with regulatory requirementsCoordinate response for IT-Security & information protection incidents that arise at the siteLead Information Protection & IT-Security Awareness activities for NiskayunaEnsure all information protection & IT-Security programs comply with regulatory requirementsServe as a subject matter expert for cybersecurity and risk at the Niskayuna site

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of overall experience in IT and a minimum of 5 years working directly in the field of Information Security & Data protectionExperience applying controllership principles and enforcing compliance with local and global policies and regulationsStrong knowledge of IT Security conceptsExperience in security and compliance audit programsExperience in designing, enhancing, and implementing detailed wing to wing processesProven track record of detailed quality documentation delivery to defined standardsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated analytical and problem-solving skillsDue to the nature of this role and Federal Contract Provisions, U.S. Citizenship is required to be considered for this role.Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.Must be 18 years or older.You must submit your application at www.careers.gevernova.com to be considered.

Relevant security certifications for the IT environmentTraining or experience in conducting IT audits and ensuring follow-up to closureStrong technical background in network or system administration, application development, or IT securityExperience in conducting forensically sound investigationsProven experience in implementing and managing data leakage prevention utilitiesFamiliarity with regulatory requirements such as NIST, ISO 27001/2, COBIT, HIPAA, and others, including NIST 800-171ITIL certification or substantial experience in implementing ITIL frameworksDemonstrated ability to accelerate change within an organizationStrong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse group of IT staff across multiple sites, with proven success in working with global teamsExperience leading teams and driving cybersecurity initiativesExperience serving as a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) or in a similar leadership role within an organization

The salary range for this position is $147,000 - $210,000 USD, annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. This position will remain posted until at least June 19th, 2025.
