As a Director CDI, you will:
• Responsible for CDI program to initiate, influence, direct and oversee the clinical documentation improvement program activities to include productivity, quality, education and training, auditing, report management, performance improvement initiatives and developing standardized practices, processes, policies and procedures.
• Become an advocate for facilitating the best practice model for CDI, linking the most accurate capture of documented bedside care to the most accurate numeric reporting codes thereby, conversion into correct reporting, facility and physician profiling and acuity capture.
• Monitors the performance of each CDI program to ensure alignment and support department and organizational goals as well as compliance in coding and query practices with regulatory requirements.
• Leverages CDI technology and client relationships to gain support and participation in strategies and initiatives to drive repeatable processes across facilities, creating economies of scale and improving overall performance.
• Provides complete, accurate and timely reporting of Clinical Documentation data metrics to leadership (internal and externally to clients).
• Establish a working understanding of each client, their facility, their internal structure, potential needs and clinical staff/physician/HIM relationship regarding current documentation/coding and severity of illness.
• Seek to build knowledge and understanding in the ever-changing arenas of coding guidelines, DRG payer groups, case management/utilization review functions, clinical documentation trends, TJC/core measure guidelines, and clinical quality of care issues.
• Assist with in-service training of staff, quality reviews, and physicians as needed.
• Maintain a clear working knowledge of the CDI application regarding data entry, report generation, and tracking methods.
• Clearly communicate and/or escalate program updates, risks, or needs in a timely manner to the VP of Operations and actively work to resolve and mitigate risk.
• Build trustworthy and strong relationships with client staff, physician base
• Supports and maintains integration of Coding and CDI processes where applicable

Qualifications include:
• At least one of the following: MD Equivalent, or BSN equivalent, OR
RN with at least 7 years of experience in CDI
• Must maintain credentials while employed.
• Requires at least 5 years of acute care hospital experience as a CDI/CDS Nurse
• Requires at least 3 years of prior management experience in CDI
• RHIA, RHIT preferred
• Strong clinical experience as a floor nurse and/or clinical quality
• Maintains current working knowledge of Coding Clinic Guidelines and federal updates to DRG system (MS, APR, AP, etc)
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and disease processes.
• Experience in Maryland documentation rules pertaining to DRG, POA, SOI, and MHACs
• Experience in Maryland provider quality programs
• Excellent communication skills, employing tact and effectiveness.
• Ability to converse with physicians in sometimes difficult scenarios.
• Ability to conduct presentations to facility physicians and leadership.

Pay Range:

$127,850.69 - $191,776.04

If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
