Director, UX Research - Acton, Mass. or San Diego, CA (Hybrid)

We are seeking a strategic and visionary Director of UX Research to lead our user research function and champion a user-centered approach across product development. This role will be responsible for building and scaling a high-impact research team, driving insights that inform design and product decisions, and shaping the future of our user experience strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

Develop and execute a comprehensive UX research strategy aligned with business goals.Lead, mentor, and grow a team of UX researchers across qualitative and quantitative disciplines.Advocate for the voice of the user across cross-functional teams including Product, Design, Engineering, and Marketing.

Research Execution

Oversee the planning and execution of user research studies including usability testing, ethnographic research, surveys, and data analysis.Translate complex user behaviors and needs into actionable insights.Ensure research findings are effectively communicated and integrated into product roadmaps.

Collaboration & Influence

Partner with senior stakeholders to prioritize research initiatives and influence product strategy.Foster a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and empathy across the organization.Promote best practices in research methodologies, tools, and ethics.

Operational Excellence

Build scalable research operations including participant recruitment, tooling, and knowledge management.Monitor and report on research impact and ROI to executive leadership.Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in UX and user research.Qualifications10+ years of experience in UX research, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.Proven track record of driving strategic impact through user insights.Expertise in a wide range of research methods and tools.Strong communication and storytelling skills.Experience working in agile, cross-functional environments.Advanced degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field preferred.Preferred AttributesPassion for user-centered design and innovation.Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution.Experience in B2B, SaaS, or consumer tech environments.Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design principles.
