Join Gilead and help create possible, together. **Job Description** The Director of US Commercial Congresses, within the Strategic Meetings & Engagements team of the Commercial Operations department will lead the team, be responsible, leads the strategy, process governance, and implementation of both the US Congresses and M&E portfolio synergies/alignment. The role will establish OpEx efficiencies standards and operations roadmap to ensure that we are successful in creating strategic business driven outcomes. This position partners with cross-functional teams including global and US stakeholders to ensure objectives and outcomes are clearly defined and measurable, along with ensuring flawless compliant execution are met across all functions. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** + Strategic direction for US Commercial Congresses and Operational Excellence, focusing on capabilities, compliance, operational efficiency, innovation, data driven insights supporting business outcomes and overall cross-functional relationships, + Drives operational excellence by evaluating existing processes and identifying optimization opportunities. Reviews, evaluates, and recommends process and efficiency improvements to standard operating procedures. + Lead cross functional collaboration and provide leadership to ensure timely decisions and alignment. Lead change management activities and roadmap for the US Commercial organization through matrix cross functional relationships and setting strategic vision. + Responsible for the US Commercial Congress team, which scope includes end-to-end logistical & process management of US Commercial Congresses, departmental process optimization, and innovation for the US Commercial Organization. + Designs, establishes, and maintains critical business metrics related to US Congress management to enable data-driven decisions throughout the commercial team. + Sets achievable goals and develops a team culture that inspires the team and emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, employee development, and high performance. + Establishes and socializes the US Congress roadmap, including identifying key congress forecasting inclusion based on internal stakeholder priorities and customer engagement needs. + Define congress strategy and implementation roadmap focusing on customer experience data, performance indicators, stakeholder feedback and industry standard inputs to drive targeted process and customer & employee experience improvement optimization. + Leads, creates, communicates, and oversees the implementation of relevant technology related to Congresses. + Lead partner discussions with Legal, Finance, Global Procurement, IT and other cross functional partners to ensure proper governance is being applied to all US Congresses, in adherence to Gilead guidance standards. + Develops and implements cross-training and knowledge sharing programs within internal group and across other departments. + Provides coaching and knowledge sharing to Congress team for development of management and technical skills. + Develops solutions to complex problems, which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation. + Leads departmental budget management, forecasting, resource allocation, project prioritization, and scenario planning across the team. + Define and lead SME departmental key supplier & agency management strategies, determining process optimization, communication strategies, customer touchpoints and defining performance indicators, training, and scope/remit. + Successfully partner with Global Commercial, Medical Affairs, Business Conduct, Finance, Regulatory, and other cross functional partners to ensure proper compliance governance and SOP/SLAs are being applied to all customer engagements, congresses & events according to Gilead’s guidance standards. + Provide regular communication with Commercial Leadership and business partners regarding major congress strategy to ensure alignment with US Commercial business objectives. + Lead, identify, Evaluate and Recommend process and efficiency improvements to standard operating procedures to ensure the highest level of operational efficiency for the department. + Foster strong working relationship with relevant industry professional organizations to promote innovation and maintain industry standards for Gilead Sciences **Core Competencies** + Excellent leadership skills with an ability to set a vision, lead change, and lead and mentor a team providing coaching, development, and training as needed. + Must have a strong executive presence with ability to command respect through exercise of sound business judgment and clear decision-making. + Must be skilled at navigating a matrix organization and collaborating effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, including executive leadership. + High degree of organizational awareness, ability to connect the dots to understand all the interdependencies and big picture. + Proactive mindset that bridges ideas to implementable solutions and can help move both internal and external stakeholders to quickly solve problems. + Thought leader with track record to formulate and integrate functional strategies with corporate objectives and translate them into actionable deliverables. + Results-driven; takes initiative and ownership to accomplish work. + Highly adaptable, innovative, and possesses the ability to demonstrate flexibility, uncover agile solutions, and embrace change in a rapidly growing environment. + Strive for continuous improvement and embrace innovative ideas in daily work. **Basic Qualifications** Bachelor's Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience OR Masters' Degree and Ten Years’ Experience OR PhD and Eight Years’ Experience **Preferred Qualifications** + 12+ years’ experience with BS/BA + 10+ years’ experience with MS/MA or MBA + Relevant pharmaceutical industry experience + Proven leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry and demonstrated capabilities in operations and experience in compliance governed customer engagement business models. + Management experience leading and developing a high-performing team. + Strong understanding of pharmaceutical compliance regulations for Congresses, and Operations. + Must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to interact with, focus, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among cross-functional teams. + Strategic understanding of market trends, implications, and evolution M&E industry standards. + Ability to work with urgency and prioritize across multiple tasks required. + Strong analytical skills are required. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
