Job Description Summary
Lead, develop, and oversee a broad, highly specialized, and diverse team of Market Risk professionals who provide leadership in ensuring all significant market risks are appropriately understood, analyzed and measured against TD's risk appetite.
Provides effective challenge, oversight, and outcomes, while operating within the Bank's risk appetite. Acts as a thought leader for the evolution of the Trading Market Risk Stress Testing framework, scenario design, methodology and capabilities.
Job Description
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Stress Scenario Design
Lead the Market Risk stress testing program, including oversight and maintenance of stress testing scenarios and processes.
Lead activities to develop and enhance stress testing methodologies.
Lead various stress testing initiatives, including Dodd-Frank Act Stress Test (DFAST), Enterprise-Wide Stress Testing (EWST), Macro Stress Test (MST) in addition to ad-hoc analysis and commentary to assess emerging risks.
Facilitate key strategic discussions to evolve the stress testing framework and provide thought leadership to executive audience (output may include strategic roadmap and/or deliverables/ frameworks/ short to long-term goals, technological capabilities etc.).
Analyze new product requests to ensure that market risks and valuation are well understood, and that appropriate stress measures are in place.
Reporting and Analysis
Summarize findings, including drivers and attribution of results.
Provide analytical expertise on trading market risk related activities, providing effective challenge while supporting business growth within TD Securities' risk appetite.
Maintain thorough understanding of all key risk and risk-related issues through continual review of risk reports/related data and dialogue with relevant parties. Ensure that all risks are transparent to Risk Management, Business Leaders and Senior Management.
Participate in industry calls and collaborate with peers across other financial institutions.
Monitor the effectiveness of strategies, programs, and practices and identify areas for improvement.
Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts.
Team Management
Lead a high performing team; provide on-going feedback and performance reviews, coach and develop employees.
Meet requirements of emerging Enterprise standards and policies.
Support an environment where team is empowered to escalate issues.

Interact with the stakeholders across the organization including Front Office, Finance, Model Development, Technology, Economics department, Internal Audit and various other control groups.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Advance degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or other relevant discipline.
10+ years of relevant experience in Capital Markets, Market Risk or related control functions.
Prior experience with stress scenario design and analysis.
Prior experience in managing complex infrastructure changes is an asset.
Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with cross functional teams and stakeholders at multiple levels.
Robust organizational skills with the ability to work in a demanding environment and handle multiple deadlines and priorities.
Advanced critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with data analysis and visualization tools.
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in the financial industry.
Results-driven mindset with a focus on delivering business outcomes.

The Director Risk TDS is primarily accountable for providing a comprehensive and diverse range of risk management expertise to business leaders and implementing appropriate risk frameworks and leading related management activities to mitigate enterprise or business wide risk exposures for key business segment of the Bank or functional area
Depth & Scope:
Generally an expert at the enterprise or group business level, requiring broad managerial and deep specialized knowledge of risk management issues at the enterprise, business, regulatory and industry levels
Acts as the primary regulatory interface on risk issues and requirements for a key business segment of the Bank and assesses and provides direction for existing and new regulations
Manages or oversees a number of major risk area requirements such as Credit, Operational, Regulatory and/or Market Risk or related programs that are enterprise-wide or cross multiple business segments (e.g. Basel credit project, SOX, Stress Testing etc.)
Represents business on corporate initiatives and identifies key risks and implications and provides direction in complex situations
Works with various regulators, business / corporate and pan-wide business support groups to deal with regulatory and cross-business level issues
Education & Experience:
Undergraduate degree in Business (Accounting or Finance) or Mathematics/Economics.
