New York, NYConde Nast is seeking an experienced Director, Technical Program Management who will lead the Data (Customer Data, Data Insights & Governance including DS/ML) and Publishing portfolio of projects and programs delivering innovative technology and products that are essential to connecting customers to our iconic brands.
This role will help setting goals for programs aligned to the strategic objectives of the organization, owning delivery across the full SDLC and Product lifecycle for technology and product programs. As a program/project management functional leader, the Director will influence the development of operational best practices and processes for the function, defining the criteria for control and management of programs and projects across Conde Nast’s global product, technology and data organisation. The role will continue to drive the maturity, performance and excellence of our technical project management function in partnership with business, product, data and technology leaders in the organisation.
As a proven leader you will have:
proven experience in leading complex transformation programs and projects for product and technology organisation, enabling large scale change enabled by technology
deep knowledge of SDLC and PMO best practices, including experience designing and implementing technology and process optimisation practices within an organisation to deliver sustainable improvements in business performance across product and technology teams
Experience working at Principal Technical Program Manager / Director level
have recognised programme management qualifications, and experience of managing large budgets

Key Responsibilities:
Accountable for the direction and leadership of multiple complex technical/product programs, across multiple pods, within a portfolio domain (e.g. data, cybersecurity, brands, content, subscriptions & memberships).
Responsible for direct management of a team of Technical Program and Project Managers supporting delivery across the technology portfolio domain.
Responsible for the design and implementation of program governance across the portfolio including multiple projects and workstrams with interdependencies both within and outside the program.
Accountable for management of status materials for their portfolio and for proactive relationship management and communication with internal and external stakeholders aligned to their portfolio
Accountable for leading project and program delivery meetings, organizing rituals, workshops and reporting across their portfolio
Accountable for partnership with cross-functional stakeholders company-wide including our product, design, engineering, data and leadership teams to execute the delivery of software solutions that will transform our business
Responsible for optimising IT and SDLC best practice frameworks (ITIL, LEAN, AGILE) for the function in partnership with peers in Program Management and Engineering, Product, Data and Technology leaders
Accountable for maximising delivery performance across their portfolio, ensuring planning and monitoring forecasts and productivity while partnering with relevant stakeholders to develop any required action or mitigation plans
Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies
Accountable for leading program business case development working with business, product/technology owners and finance to secure funding approval and to manage program budget end-to-end, and to track and communicate program benefits
Partners with Product/Engineering leads to plan, define and track program goals using OKRs as a framework for prioritisation, performance and outcomes
Partners with leads across the organization to optimise resource allocation required for effective delivery
Partners and drives healthy relationships with relevant business, technical & non-technical roles spanning all organizational levels
Devises evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements across the function, including ways to enhance efficiency and productivity of procedures and people
Drives performance across multiple teams to stay focused and moving forward on strategic goals while actively managing dependencies and remove obstacles that stand in between
Leads engagement with internal and external stakeholders to confirm business requirements and to align and priortise these to OKRs and program goals
Sets teams up for success by collaborating closely with them in sprint activities, providing them with relevant user stories and guiding them in estimation
Influences a diverse set of stakeholders with your excellent relationships, commitment to driving good decisions
Ensure that Program/Project Managers and Coordinators execute approved work plan activities and operations in response to technical direction and recommend appropriate adjustments to achieve business objectives. Provide feedback and resolve complex problems.
People Management:
Leads a team of technical program and project managers aligned to the Portfolio
Build a strong team through open communication and by collaborating on decision-making responsibilities.
Responsible for performance management of direct reports: setting goals, monitoring performance, and supporting their career development
Create a culture of high performance and positive engagement within the team aligned to functional and organisational objectives
Supports resource planning and utilisation with senior functional leaders
Essential Skills & Requirements:
15+ years experience with Technical Program Management with proven experience at a senior manager/director level
Experience in leading Data Platform and Data Products portfolio, AI/ML and/or Data Science programs
Proven experience managing and leading complex and transformative technology/product programs for a multinational organisation in the Media or Publishing Industry
Proven experience in managing a Project Management Office (PMO) optimising IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, LEAN, AGILE) across Programs and Projects
Demonstrated experience establishing program governance and in managing dependencies, priorities and risks across complex programs to ensure objectives and key results are delivered to meet revenue or technology goals
The expected base salary range for this position is from $187,000 - $205,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
