Children's North Surgery Center, a free-standing pediatric ambulatory surgery center located in Wexford, is seeking a visionary and experienced leader to serve as Director. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to oversee all aspects of surgical center operations, with 24/7 accountability for patient safety, experience, staffing, and site efficiency.
As Director, you'll lead a dedicated team in delivering exceptional pediatric care in a facility that values excellence, compassion, and innovation. The center operates Monday through Friday during daylight hours and is closed on weekends and holidays-offering a balanced schedule in a high-impact role. Overview:
Leads and manages all clinical and financial operations across Surgery Center departments. Partners with administrative leadership and physician chiefs to align services with organizational goals. Ensures compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
⚕️ Staff Leadership & Development
+ Recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and coach staff.
+ Foster a productive, satisfying work environment.
+ Oversee orientation and ongoing education.
Financial Oversight
+ Manage surgical expenses and product/equipment justifications.
+ Collaborate with Business and Purchasing Managers on cost control.
Clinical Operations
+ Serve as Director of Nursing; oversee daily staffing and scheduling.
+ Ensure quality standards in collaboration with physician leaders.
+ Maintain compliance with AORN, JCAHO, OSHA, and DOH regulations.
Policy & Procedure Management
+ Develop and implement nursing care policies.
+ Continuously improve practices to enhance patient outcomes.
Strategic Planning & Growth
+ Contribute to outpatient surgical service goals and expansion.
+ Optimize OR scheduling and resource allocation.
+ Maintain 24/7 accountability for operations.
Customer & Stakeholder Relations
+ Build strong relationships with staff, patients, families, and payers.
+ Monitor satisfaction and address service gaps proactively.
Quality Improvement
+ Review nursing care programs and implement enhancements.
Education:
+ BSN required at time of hire or transfer.
+ Master's degree in Nursing or related healthcare field (e.g., Public Health, IT, Administration) required at hire/transfer, or must enroll within 1 year and complete within 3 years.
Experience:
+ Minimum 4 years of progressive leadership experience.
+ Relevant clinical experience preferred.
+ Strong analytical skills to evaluate staff, resolve clinical issues, and solve complex problems.
+ Proven leadership ability to develop staff, uphold national nursing standards, and meet administrative requirements.
Skills:
+ Demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate care and interpret patient data across the lifespan.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster relationships with patients, families, staff, physicians, and senior leadership.
Licensure & Clearances:
+ Registered Nurse (RN) license:
+ Must be valid in the facility's state or a participating NLC state.
+ If relocating to the facility's state, must obtain state licensure within 60 days.
