Group/division summary

The Director of Supply Chain is part of the Middletown site leadership team and the Clinical Diagnostics Reagents business unit. Operations at the Middletown site provides end-to-end customer solutions to establish manufacturing process and routine supply for a wide range of diagnostic reagents across multiple areas including immunoassay, clinical chemistry, hematology and molecular diagnostics. The majority of the business is supply of products that are manufactured on an OEM basis for the global leaders of the in vitro diagnostic industry.

Position summary

In this role, you will be the primary global leader for the end-to-end order-in to product-out execution and continuous improvement for the site. This includes direct leadership responsibility for the supply chain, operations manufacturing planning process, inventory controls, customer service/order fulfillment, and procurement functions. You will develop and drive initiatives which enable the business to meet & exceed service levels and product availability. In addition, you will lead the SIOP process to link commercial, B2B partners, Operations, Finance and Supply Chain forecasts that will translate into capacity and inventory strategies to increase customer service levels at an optimal cost. This role will be responsible for working very closely with key internal customers as well as with global sales leaders. The supply chain leader will report directly to the Senior Director, Plant Site Leader for Middletown.

What will you do?

Overall responsibility for the Middletown site Supply Chain function including order taking, production capacity planning, procurement, warehousing and logistics.Develop and facilitate implementation of best-in-class supply chain operations practices and procedures within the business unit(s) and support roll-out throughout the business.Develop and implement best-in-class demand and production planning that drives efficiency in production scheduling, operational effectiveness and financial results.Ensure vital supply of materials to support production activities. Ensure availability of internal and external warehousing and transportation capacity to handle materials and products.Own supplier management process and drive appropriate root cause countermeasure and early warning systems.Ensure active coordination and partnership with the global factory and supplier network in Asia, Europe and North America.Facilitate weekly and monthly operating reviews to ensure adherence to key business metrics.Communicate, influence and interact globally with broad functional areas to develop and implement plans to achieve annual operating goals.Collaborate with Global Trade Compliance to ensure compliant and effective movement of materials across borders and through customs.Lead supply chain practical process improvement (PPI) activities for the business unit across Middletown to drive continuous improvement.Key member of all new product introduction (NPI) projects and coordinating all supply chain efforts for product launch.Serve as primary escalation point for order fulfillment issues by providing coordination for resolution, including investigation and diagnosis.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience:

At least 10+ years direct experience as functional leadership in a global supply chain or operations environment.

Experience with a continuous improvement methodology (e.g., LEAN, Six Sigma).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proven ability to work in a complex matrix environment to create consensus and implement processes.

Proficiency in engaging and influencing large teams and functional leaders.

Strong project management and problem-solving skills

Must possess solid judgment and be able to work autonomously, bias for action.

A strong collaborative leadership style with proven ability to inspire change across multiple organizational levels, functions, locations, and “dotted lines” into entities to achieve objectives.

Analytical and statistical skills including the ability to develop and report metrics, develop complex models, & predictive and prescriptive analytics.

Expertise with SAP required.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required, up to 20%.
