Director, Strategy & Optimization (GPO Oncology)

Reporting to the Vice President of Provider Engagement, the Strategy and Optimization Director is a Senior Specialist role who is responsible for executing against GPO performance objectives. The role is a subject matter expert who works collaboratively with US Oncology members to implement processes and procedures that ensure the delivery of high-quality comprehensive GPO engagements. Additionally, this role must work collaboratively with US Oncology Leadership, Pharmacy Solutions, Analytics, and Medically Integrated Dispensing (MID) and Value Based Care teams to ensure full potential within a complex healthcare environment. Position Description Responsible for executing against GPO performance objectives for a set group of highly engaged strategic members 

Key Responsibilities

Works directly with Large US Oncology members to share the aggregate strategy to ensure economic success on the GPO contracts available 

Manages communication of multiple strategic initiatives and delivers results for members Identifies success factors and strategies to drive enhanced performance on the Unity contract portfolio 

Interprets, builds and delivers economic comparisons for understanding contract landscape 

Executes against quarterly coordinated aggregate buy-in strategies; working with multiple groups to ensure success    

Works with the Sr Director to build content for and aid in delivering monthly Unity member calls and meetings  

Delivers on projects to improve value, innovate offerings, streamline efficiencies, and improve member experience   

Works collaboratively with Pharmacy Solutions Teams, MID, and other internal stakeholders to drive contract performance and provider engagement with the GPO Services business  

Partners with Business Development Directors to provide contract insights to our biopharma partners  

Provides key performance indicator information and other metrics demonstrating Unity contract and membership performance  

Develops and Coaches new & tenured sales teams on Unity GPO open market landscape and dynamics 

Presents to members and internal customers on GPO strategies, market dynamics and economic results  

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Education

Bachelors degree required  

Critical Skills

7+ years relevant healthcare experience  

5+ years business analysis, strategy development or business development  

Oncology experience required 

Proven success in navigating oncology product launches, biosimilar transitions, and market share strategies.  

Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required  

Strong service selling, service delivery and client relationship skills.       

Strong project leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple concurrent initiatives that have significant financial impact 

 

Additional Skills

Previous Group Purchasing Organization experience is a plus  

Previous experience working with or for pharmaceutical manufacturers is a plus  

Experience working with oncology stakeholders including physicians, pharmacy directors, and/or biopharma partners. 

Outstanding strategic thinking and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to synthesize facts and insights into concrete, actionable recommendations   

Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization  

Leadership skills with experience working in matrix organization  

Proven ability to establish, enhance and manage customer relationships and leverage those relationships to drive revenue and profit.

Advanced public speaking and presentation skills with large groups

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$102,700 - $171,100
