Director, Software Engineering

JOB DESCRIPTION: Position is based in Charlotte, NC, some teleworking may be permitted. Travel to Lowe's offices may be required.


Partner with the product team to establish the priorities across an entire portfolio of product groups. Manage software engineering teams that design, build and maintain solutions across multiple technology products; ensures the translation of business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs, code modules, stable application systems, and
software solutions. Build and maintain partnerships with all functions to ensure technology team members understand business needs, functional specifications, and user journeys. Provide insight and guidance, and resolves cross‐functional issues that are escalated throughout the application development, testing, implementation, and support lifecycle (across an entire portfolio of product groups). Ensure the creation of SOPs, KPIs, and overall operationalization of assigned services or applications within a product group. Hire, train, and develop talent for growth opportunities; monitors team/individual’s morale and engagement to maintain highly effective and collaborative environments. Ensure mechanisms are in place that allow teams to resolve production issues within defined SLAs. Monitor testing activities from a high level, ensuring that all testing efforts align to the team's testing strategy; meets with testing teams when necessary to review the progress of testing efforts. Responsible for departmental budget and forecasting decisions, and budget allocation; ensures technical solutions are delivered and maintained in a cost‐effective manner. Responsible for overseeing teams that develop, implement, maintain, support and scale robust, reliable and secure business and enterprise software solutions. Partners with cross‐functional leaders to ensure technology solutions built by the engineering team align to overall architectural and business standards. Ensures the alignment, buy‐in, and support of diverse project stakeholders by building and maintaining trusting relationships with internal customers. Influences and establishes best in class engineering practices through solid design decisions and tools. Sets goals, strategies, budgets and oversees the deployment of large/enterprise scale initiatives and encourages a data‐driven culture to improve the efficiency, scalability, stability, and security of applications. Manages a portfolio of services or applications and provides resources in support of the applications by leveraging partnerships with technology teams, vendors, and business leaders. Leads teams through all technology solution development phases by ensuring teams understand and adhere to company methodology, policies, standards, and controls; ensures team members are trained in SDLC methodologies, models, and processes.


JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job requires a Bachelor’s Degree* in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, or a related field and 10 years of experience in IT or a related field. *Employer will accept single degree or combination of degrees, diplomas and/or professional experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree.


Must have prior experience in: 


•    10 years of experience in: 
•    Informatica, Talend, Apache Bean, Dataflow, Datastore, Couchbase, Cassandra, Spinnaker, Cloud SQL, MYSQL, DB2, Oracle, MangoDB, DynamoDB, postgresSQL, Dataproc, NetflixOss, VPC(Hybrid), ECS, Data studio, bigtable, Microservice architectural pattern, JIRA and Confluence;
•    Business & digital strategy, Retail domain expert, Agile product engineering, Lean IT delivery management, Vendor management, and software development life cycles (SDLC); and
•    IBM Websphere Application Server, Weblogic server, JBOSS server, Java/J2EE-based web applications in Commerce platform(WCS), Commerce based Mobility(Mobile platform) Application, Endeca and/or Solr Search, In-house home based OMS or equivalent Sterling Order Management System, Middleware technologies like JMS,Message Broker, Data Power, object-oriented design and programming methodologies, W3C, Web Services, Frontend technologies like Javascript , Ajax, Jquery, Dojo , HTML, CSS, JSP, XML, XSLT,MQ and Data persistence technologies like Enterprise Java Beans (EJB), SQL, Unix, Linux and shell scripting.

•    6 years of experience in:
•    Google cloud platform (GCP), Amazon web service (AWS), Microservice, Vertex AI, Kubernetes, GKE, GAE, cloud run, cloud build, Jenkins, Spinnaker, ISTIO, Service mesh, Gateway, APIGEE, and Caching (Redis and Memcache); and
•    Spring boot, SOA Containers, Docker, Elastci container services(ECS),EKS,redshift, nonblocking architecture, Bigtable, Cassandra, Big query, and Spring cloud.

•    4 years of experience in Data science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, NLP, Vision API, Vertex AI, ML labs, Jupyter, Tensor flow, Pytorch, Kubeflow, and Metaflow.
