Job Description

Visa Protect, part of Visa’s Value-Added Services organization, is a world leader in Risk, Fraud and Identity solutions.   The Acceptance Risk product portfolio delivers best-in-class transaction risk and fraud capabilities to acquirers and merchants globally.

The Director, Small and Mid-Market Fraud Solutions is responsible for defining and executing the product strategy for merchants in small and midmarket segments:

StrategyAchieve product-market fit for transaction management fraud solutions serving mid-market, small, and micro enterprises globally. Develop and launch new products as needed, based on the needs of the segment, the region and distribution partners. Solve for multiple sales channels, including direct sales and sales through partners such as merchant banks or ISOs.Develop product strategy in concert with broader Visa Acceptance Solutions strategy.Participate in generative and usability research studies.  Leverage research insights to drive segmentation, product strategy, product enhancements, and marketing activities.Product DeliveryManage the product roadmap for small and mid-market fraud solutions.  Engage with technology partners as needed on elaboration of requirements and execution. Commercialize new enhancements for all client segments, including partner distribution channels.Lead and inspire cross-functional teams in the development and delivery of the product or products.  Includes significant degree of collaboration across Solutions, Sales, Support, Marketing, Product Development, Project Management, Technical Product Management, and other Product Managers.Drive the strategy, planning, and execution of End of Life or Migration projects, including the migration of approximately 400,000 small merchants and partners from our legacy platform.Thought leadershipAct as thought leader and evangelist for small and mid-market fraud solutions internally and externally.  Evangelize the product and create compelling narratives around value propositions.Engage directly with Strategic Partners and clients in the field.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the payments industry, product strategy, SMB and Mid-Market fraud practices, and in working through global partner distribution channels.  The candidate must be a creative problem solver who works well in a highly collaborative environment, can bring structure to ideation efforts, and has an ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization. The candidate must be able to demonstrate over time specific risk product expertise to both internal and external clients.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build great relationships generate consensus and promote excitement and enthusiasm for bridging risk initiatives and reseller priorities are critical qualities for success. This person will focus on working not only internally with product development to deliver breakthrough results, but also externally evangelizing those results to the global marketplace. Above all, this person must intrinsically be a champion for our  risk products and promote usage within the company and to global clients. This position may require occasional travel to client sites and Visa locations around the globe.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
•7+ years’ experience in Product Strategy and/or Management.
•Specific industry experience in eCommerce and direct responsibilities for managing the prevention of transaction or merchant (seller) fraud.
•Direct, hands-on experience with development, deployment and configuration of fraud strategies within a merchant or acquirer context to meet particular fraud objectives, i.e., minimizing chargebacks, false positives or operational costs. Hands-on experience with risk mitigation tools such as Decision Manager or equivalent.
•Understanding payments and fraud landscape and ability to translate product strategy into executable plans.
•Proven history of managing risk-based products through phases of a product’s lifecycle – from concept through management and ultimately sunset.
•Direct experience managing the design, development, implementation and maintenance of risk products for the small or mid-market merchants.
•Able to build relationships and gain exposure to internal and external client leadership teams through demonstrating key domain expertise.
•In-depth knowledge of Visa and Cybersource risk products with the ability to identify potential synergies gained through partnership offerings, or market gaps.
•Firm understanding of consumer authentication protocols, including 2nd factor, 3d secure 1.0 and 2.0 and differences between regional and card brand implementations.
•Working knowledge of statistical models, rule based fraud detection and chargeback mitigation solutions and their impact on card not present transaction processing.
•Familiar with current and future government regulations, specifically with the impact and opportunities associated of PSD2 and local privacy directives

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 160,600.00 to 232,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
