ROLE SUMMARY

Bring strong scientific and communication skills, along with industry knowledge, to support Head of Scientific Affairs and Scientific Affairs team in providing senior-level scientific, strategic and operational support to the Pfizer Chief Scientific Officer (CSO)/President of R&D and Head, Portfolio & Innovation, to create and communicate a compelling scientific narrative for external (investor, others) and internal (Board of Directors - BoD) audiencesSupport Head of Scientific affairs in monitoring Pfizer R&D strategy and performance across a broad spectrum of measures and assess peer strategy/performance to help inform the strategic narrative to internal and external audiencesWorking closely with Head of Scientific Affairs and Scientific Affairs team in coordinating rapid, thoughtful responses to content-related requests of the Pfizer CSO/ President of R&D from all sources (CEO, BoD, Investor Relations, colleagues, etc.)Support Head of Scientific Affairs in ensuring Pfizer CSO/President of R&D is properly briefed and well prepared for key internal and external meetings and presentations

ROLE RESPONSIBILITES

Leverage knowledge of science & business, working with Senior Director Scientific Affairs and Scientific Affairs team to develop internal & external presentations for the Pfizer CSO/ President of R&D suitable for stakeholders ranging from scientific to non-scientific (incl. BoD and Executive Leadership Team - ELT); apply advanced concepts and principles to perform research, information gathering and analysis to prepare frameworks, innovative ideas, slides, and background materials (in collaboration with subject matter experts, Investor Relations, Communications and other relevant groups)Support Head of Scientific Affairs in addressing requests for information, analyses, actions and decisions from the CEO, ELT, BoD, Pfizer R&D Leadership Team and other Corporate and external constituents in a timely, coordinated mannerStay up-to-date on emerging biopharma R&D and communications trends, monitoring peers, analyst reports and sentiment, and industry newsWork collaboratively with the Scientific Affairs team to manage planning and preparation for meetings of the BoD and Scientific committees including overall framing/messaging, generation of pre-read and presentation materials, talking points; coordinate across multiple groups to ensure accurate and consistent informationWork collaboratively with the Scientific Affairs team to support Pfizer’s CSO/President of R&D for quarterly earnings.Drive the scientific narrative for quarterly earnings, collaborating with Investor Relations and Communications teams to support the development of broader quarterly earnings materials including prepared remarks, Q&A and talking pointsCollaborate with the Scientific Affairs team and support the Head of Scientific Affairs in the development of a scientific communications strategy for investors, creating a watchlist of key programs, R&D themes and emerging innovative science, as well as a proactive plan for when and how to communicate them, through a steady cadence of investor events (in collaboration with Investor Relations and Communications)Work collaboratively with the Scientific Affairs team and Communications to support key external pipeline announcements, providing scientific and investor expertise to shape strategy and deliverables including press releases, Q&As, and other investor events

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

PhD in Biology, Chemistry, or other scientific discipline, or equivalent required5+ years of relevant BioPharma experience with a strong foundation in scientific communications3+ years of experience in crafting scientific presentations for executive audiences requiredSuccessful track record collaborating with executive teams to develop corporate messaging, positioning and scientific narrativesHighly skilled at Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint and ExcelAbility to multitask and deal with a large volume of requests / deliverables on a regular basisAbility to quickly/effectively prioritize and balance competing tasks in real-timeBringing a strong and advanced scientific mindset with broad exposure to diverse therapeutic areas and modalities, and foundation of scientific knowledge to work on scientific initiatives and presentations for the Pfizer CSO/President of R&DAbility to develop a broad, big picture understanding across Pfizer R&D units/lines so that this can be appropriately reflected in the CSO/President of R&D communications, presentations, briefings, etc.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $169,700.00 to $282,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
