Director, Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (Full-Time) - Mississauga, ON

Primary Purpose
A Director of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing an organization's overall SHEQ programs for Linde Canada Inc., aiming to achieve zero incidents target across business units. This includes creating a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. They lead and mentor SHEQ professionals to foster a positive team culture, manage budgets, and collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve SHEQ goals.

Key Accountabilities:

Create and maintain comprehensive SHEQ policies, procedures, and programs that align with Global Linde legal and organizational requirements.Coordinate, Establish and Oversee compliance with all relevant Linde and local health, safety, quality and environmental regulations, and policies as well as other applicable industry standards and local regulations through assessments. Establish and maintain Pharmacovigilance systems to ensure compliance with local pharmacovigilance requirementsLead and support investigations into workplace incidents and near misses, develop corrective actions, and ensure implementation to prevent recurrence. Develop and deliver SHEQ training programs to employees at all levels, promote awareness and competency in SHEQ practices.Support the development and implementation of emergency response plans, including training and drills, to ensure a timely and effective response to emergencies.Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as senior management, employees, and contractors, as well as external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies and community groups on all SHEQ related matters.Manage the SHEQ budget, allocate resources effectively, and track SHEQ-related expenses.Establish key performance metrics for SHEQ performance, monitoring progress, and reporting on SHEQ metrics to senior management.Provide guidance and leadership to Canada business team for Change Management on all SHEQ related matters.Identify opportunities for improvement in SHEQ programs and practices, and implement changes to enhance safety, environmental, quality and productivity performance.Work closely with Global SHEQ teams for implementing Linde requirements and sharing of good practices.

Experience:

Significant operations and or experience with at least 15 years in SHEQ management, with demonstrated leadership experience.Experience with quality management systems and regulatory requirements.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.Deep understanding of quality assurance methodologies and best practices.Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in risk assessment and management, incident investigation, and emergency management.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to influence and motivate others to embrace a safety culture.

Working Environment:

Office-based job with regular sit visits/ inspections.Travel at least 30% both nationally and internationally may be required as necessary.
