What You’ll Be Doing

Involved with the execution and day to day management of Securitized Products/Residential Mortgage Finance (warehouse and securitization) within CIBC Capital Markets. Operates in a fast-paced environment supporting a dynamic and hardworking front office team.  Supports activities that will help drive the growth of the US Residential Credit business at CIBC.  This includes assisting in the execution of new warehouse facilities, term deal transactions, and relationship management, to help the front office team execute mandates and earn repeat business.

How You’ll Succeed

Credit Approval and Management - Assist in the completion and submission of Credit Applications to Risk Management, at inception and renewals.  Ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and integrity of information received at inception and ongoing, and downstream as required by Risk Management and Credit Processing Group/Operations.  Maintain credit files, including copies of credit applications, Risk Management approvals, deal committee approvals, financials, compliance certificates, correspondence etc.

Account Monitoring and Maintenance - Review accounts/positions to ensure compliance with all terms and conditions of credit authorizations – monitor compliance with sub/concentration limits, track/enforce receipt of monthly servicing tapes and run remittance waterfall, track compliance with all collateral requirements and liaise with third party custodians, track timely issuance and payment of invoices, etc.  Create and compile all requisite performance reports for review by front office/deal team, and promptly escalate appropriate parties all irregularities and/or materially negative trends.

Client Interaction – Act as main point of contact for all fundings, payoffs, and day to day transactional activity, including coordination with internal stakeholders (e.g. front office/deal team, Treasury, etc) and third-party partners (custodians, disbursement bank, etc).

Reporting - Prepare recurrent and ad-hoc portfolio and management reporting for internal and external stakeholders as it relates to all transactions under management, coordinating with IT as applicable. 

Work with the Derivatives desk on transactions that require a hedge arrangement to ensure that proper mechanics of the funding is applied throughout the life of the transactions until deal is terminated.

Work with Credit Processing Group/Operations on funding/paydown client requests and to update Residential exposures for monthly reconciliation with the general ledger, Capital reporting, Treasury Market Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management and Credit Risk Management (US and Toronto). 

Work closely with NY Finance and Accounting Policy and Advisory (Canada) to complete monthly and quarterly updates on US Residential exposures, revenues and derivative mark to market details and any required Financial Statement disclosures.

Prepare and assist in the completion of Risk Identification and Assessment Templates, Semi-Annual Portfolio reports, Annual NY Branch Portfolio Concentration Limit reports and Liquidity Risk Assessment Forms (when required) in coordination with the completion and approval of a Change Initiative Risk Assessment for US Residential  transactions collateralized by a new asset class.

Complete KYC/AML requirements.  Ensures that new US securitization transactions are on-boarded and meet KYC/AML requirements.  This will include actively communicating with Client Services and the Client to obtain initial required documentation as well as any additional on-boarding inquiries that may arise from the due diligence process.

Liaise and work alongside all functional groups within Securitization and Structured Products Administration (SSPA) and participate as an active member of the team.

Participate in special projects from time to time, as well as assist, when required, the Head of Resi and Structured Products Administration in leading projects with multiple infrastructure team stakeholders including Compliance, Legal, Risk, IT, Operations and Finance.

Who You Are

3-5 years of experience working in financial services, general knowledge of Capital Markets, and specific experience in US mortgage warehouse support

Results-oriented self-starter who shows a keen interest in the Securitized Products business;

Team player who excels at working collaboratively with others in a group setting;

Proven ability to pay close attention to detail and execute transactions within tight timeframes with an analytic/systematic approach;

Can think and act independently to resolve issues with minimal supervision;

Can discern the need to escalate issues to senior management;

Is frequently questioning the status quo of existing processes and thinking of ways to improve upon them;

Strong writing and oral communication skills, incorporating the ability to explain detailed transactional analysis;

Strong client relationship skills and a demonstrated ability to foster and grow deep relationships with clients;

People management skills to supervise and coordinate with junior team members on the execution and administration of client mandates;

Coach and mentor junior members of the team and assist in their development;

Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task;

Strong technical/computer and analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; and

Efficient organizational skills to respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous transactions.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $140-$175K for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
