The Director, Quality Assurance and Analytics provides leadership for the Institute’s quality measurement, data analytics, and reporting programs within the department of Quality and Patient Safety. This role drives institute strategies related to the design and continuous improvement of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) plan and enterprise dashboards, ensures integrity of internal and external reporting (CMS PPS-exempt Cancer Hospital Quality Reporting (PCHQR) program, CMS Quality Payment Program (QPP), MassHealth Hospital Quality and Equity Incentive Program (HQEIP), etc.), and drives adoption of advanced analytics and AI solutions. The Director collaborates with clinical, operational, and informatics partners to translate complex data into actionable insights that enhance patient safety, care quality, and operational performance. In partnership with senior Quality and Patient Safety leadership, this position supports organizational planning for all Dana-Farber's future expansions and key clinical collaborations.

This position's work location is fully remote with occasional time on-campus in Brookline, MA. The selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI).  

Responsibilities Manages the members of the Quality Assurance and Analytics team within the Department of Quality and Patient Safety in their day-to-day responsibilities. Mentors and fosters growth in the team and across the department, while finding the right opportunities to elevate each team member in their roles across the organization. Collaborates with the Senior Director, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance on staffing plans for the division and leads all recruitment, onboarding, and promotion efforts for direct reports.Leads and evolves an enterprise-wide quality assurance and analytics program to ensure continuous support of Dana-Farber’s Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program. Guides the development and refinement of the QAPI plan and associated performance dashboards, striving for continuous improvement and the development of optimal tools to inform leaders and staff.As a visible leader and subject matter expert in quality assurance, data analytics, and quality reporting for Dana-Farber, the Director ensures the organization’s compliance with all quality data reporting requirements – both internal to stakeholders and external to regulatory agencies. Collects and processes input from multidisciplinary stakeholder groups to inform decisions, improves data integrity and interpretation, and leads the identification of improvement opportunities and implementation of appropriate interventions.Stays current with all evolving regulatory standards and interpretations, particularly as related to Dana-Farber’s external quality reporting programs. Articulately communicates new and revised quality measures and reporting requirements to Quality and Patient safety leaders, Institute leadership, and all other stakeholders as appropriate. Shares critical updates as needed and presents relevant information on a regular basis to stakeholder groups across Dana-Farber. Supports analytics planning and execution related to all Dana-Farber's future expansions and collaborations, including urgent data requests and infrastructure design for future-state performance monitoring.Collaborates closely with clinical and operational leaders across the enterprise and works seamlessly to communicate critical information at all levels - from frontline staff to senior leadership and trustees. Leads the execution of education and training to staff and leaders regarding quality dashboards, comparative analytics platforms, improvement opportunities and initiatives, and more, through both formal and informal venues.Other duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality Assurance and Analytics analysts.  Collaborating team members from Enterprise Data and Analytics and Population Sciences. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree healthcare, science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or related field required.Master’s degree healthcare, science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or related field preferred.10 years of experience in healthcare quality assurance, data analytics, performance improvement or a related field.  5 years of experience in data management, data automation and visualization, project management, and/or information systems.Direct experience related to quality reporting programs and comparative quality analytics platforms.  3 years supervisory/managerial experience preferred.Experience in a hospital setting or a facility providing oncology services preferred.Applicable quality and safety professional certification – i.e., Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), etc., preferred.Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Advanced proficiency with data management and analytics tools (SQL, Python, R, SAS, etc.) and visualization software (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).Expertise in healthcare quality frameworks, accreditation standards (TJC, CoC, CMS, etc.), and regulatory reporting requirements.Understanding of state and federal regulatory reporting requirements and their associated rulemaking processes.Strong grasp of concepts related quality measurement, healthcare policy, clinical regulatory compliance, and patient safety.Knowledge of incident reporting systems, clinical databases, electronic health records (Epic and Cerner), and business intelligence tools (Tableau).Familiarity with benchmarking databases such as Vizient and experience submitting, validating, and interpreting comparative data.Knowledge of artificial intelligence applications in healthcare analytics and experience evaluating emerging technologies.Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to data validation and error resolution.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present complex data clearly to clinical, operational, and executive audiences.Demonstrated leadership in managing analytics teams, including performance management, coaching, and professional development.Collaborative approach with proven ability to build partnerships across multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.Strong project management skills.Strong computer skills.Ability to mentor and cultivate a team, fostering growth and opportunity for development.Ability to develop and leverage effective relationships with internal and external staff to accomplish goals of the team and organization.Ability to use sound judgment and professional maturity.Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.Ability to openly share concerns, risks, and mitigation plans through clear and complete interpretation.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and drive continuous improvement.
