Fortna is seeking a results-oriented and collaborative Director, Project Sourcing to lead sourcing execution across our engineered system projects. This leader will drive supplier execution performance, align sourcing timelines with project milestones, and ensure delivery to cost, quality, and schedule commitments. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of project discipline, procurement rigor, and cross-functional alignment to support our fast-paced, customer-driven environment. This leader will coach and develop the Project Sourcing team while working closely with Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Strategic Sourcing to ensure a seamless supply chain from award to installation.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of Project Sourcing Leaders responsible for sourcing execution across global customer projects. Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, and collaboration.Project Alignment: Partner closely with Project Management, Engineering, and Manufacturing to align sourcing activities with project timelines, customer requirements, and critical path deliverables.Supplier Execution: Ensure suppliers are selected, onboarded, and held accountable to meet project needs — including lead time, cost targets, quality, and logistics requirements.Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the sourcing interface into the broader organization for project execution. Resolve supplier risks, support change orders, and coordinate delivery planning with field teams and logistics.Cost and Cash Performance: Execute sourcing levers such as competitive bidding, payment term negotiation, and supplier return incentives to improve project margins and working capital.Standard Work: Champion consistent sourcing processes and tools (e.g., project kickoffs, BOM validation, quote tracking, PO release) to improve efficiency and transparency.Supplier Escalation and Mitigation: Lead recovery efforts when supplier issues threaten project outcomes. Ensure issues are escalated quickly and resolved with urgency.Coaching and Development: Develop talent within the project sourcing team, ensuring strong project management acumen and sourcing fundamentals across all levels.Continuous Improvement: Embrace lean thinking to reduce waste, simplify handoffs, and improve first-time-right execution across the sourcing lifecycle.System Utilization: Ensure the effective use of ERP systems, sourcing trackers, and analytics to manage performance, enable visibility, and identify improvement opportunities.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement or project management in an engineered system business, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Strong understanding of project lifecycles and how procurement impacts schedule, scope, and cost.Demonstrated experience in leading high-performing teams in a matrixed environment.Proven ability to manage supplier performance under tight timelines and dynamic conditions.Working knowledge of ERP systems, sourcing analytics, and procurement standard work.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence across functions.This job description describes the general nature and level of work expected of a person assigned to this position.
