The GRS North American Major Accounts underwriting team is hiring a Director, Product Analysis to support our Major Accounts Business. This technical professional works closely with the Major Accounts Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and cross-functional partners (Underwriting Officers, Business Unit Leaders, Operations,  Actuarial, and Data Science) to drive and monitor the profitability of the Major Accounts underwriting portfolio. Responsibilities include: managing underwriting initiatives across Major Accounts, conducting complex analysis to evaluate and shape the portfolio, monitoring key performance metrics, preparing and presenting reports and other deliverables. This role reports directly to the CUO, Major Accounts.

 

*This position is eligible to be hired at different levels depending on experience*

 

If the selected candidate lives within 50 miles of one of our GRS office locations, then the candidate must be able to attend collaborative meetings in the office approximately two times a week although this is subject to change. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

Directly and/or indirectly leads work streams for projects involving the Major Accounts Office of Underwriting.Provides thoughtful recommendations that influence decisions, initiatives, and underwriting strategyCompletes complex data gathering and analysis on drivers of performance and execution of underwriting strategiesFacilitates and develops recommendations for portfolio shaping based on analysis and discussion with partnersCreates and supports processes and tools to enable proactive portfolio managementEstablishes key performance metrics to monitor portfolio quality, volatility, price adequacy, terms, and business strategies, as well as execution against portfolio objectivesMonitors and reports out on performance, deviations from plan, and insights and trends to cross-functional peers. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in  Business, Economics, or other quantitative fieldMinimum 6 years, typically 8 years or more of relevant work experienceMaster's degree beneficialProficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis software (eg: SAS, Access)Portfolio experience in Underwriting, Actuarial or Finance preferredMust have good planning, organizational, analytical, decision making and communication skillsExperience managing projects preferredKnowledge of Casualty products, pricing plans, underwriting rules and systems, and databasesKnowledge in Property, in addition to Casualty, is a plus!Front-line transactional experience, in addition to portfolio experience, is a plus!Understanding of Insurance and Actuarial concepts and financial metrics preferredObjective and results-oriented with ability to deliver change in a complex insurance environment preferred About Us

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
