ADP is hiring a Director, Privacy-By-Design.

As Director, Privacy by Design, you will lead the strategic integration of privacy protections into our product development lifecycle, ensuring that privacy remains a foundational element of our technology and business processes. You will report to the Global Chief Privacy Officer. 

 

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive PbD framework, including establishing and enforcing PbD standards. Additionally, you will work cross-functionally to ensure alignment on privacy requirements for products, and collaborate with the Global Security Organization (GSO) to define and implement technical safeguards for personal data.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Here's what you can expect on a typical day:

 

Strategic Privacy Integration

Champion the implementation of Privacy by Design (PbD) principles across all product lines, embedding privacy into the architecture, design, and development of systems and services. Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure privacy is considered from ideation through deployment, using privacy-enhancing technologies and strong default settings 

Governance and Framework Development

Develop and maintain a comprehensive PbD framework aligned with global regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27701). Establish and enforce PbD standards, including data minimization, purpose limitation, and user-centric design.

Design Reviews and Risk Assessments

Conduct PbD assessments and privacy reviews to identify and mitigate privacy risks early in the development lifecycle. Lead PbD assessments for artificial intelligence and machine learning systems to drive ethical and compliant data use. Lead the annual privacy attestation process for product development and support external audits and certifications against relevant privacy standards.

Privacy Engineering and Automation

Partner with product development teams to implement privacy controls within relevant products and in the product development process via tools like Jira. Implement privacy-enhancing technologies (e.g., differential privacy, encryption, anonymization) and develop and maintain standards related to data de-identification.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Security, and Data Governance teams to ensure alignment on privacy requirements for products, including business-to-consumer offerings. Collaborate with the Global Security Organization (GSO) to define and implement technical safeguards for personal data.

Training and Culture Building

Develop and deliver targeted training programs to promote a privacy-first mindset among developers, designers, and program managers. Foster a culture of accountability and transparency around data protection.

Product Roadmap and Innovation

Participate in quarterly roadmap reviews to ensure privacy considerations are integrated into future product planning and to define relevant non-functional requirements. Stay current with emerging technologies and evolving privacy regulations to guide innovation responsibly 

Experience: You have 10+ years of experience in relevant skills gained and developed in the same or similar role.

 

 

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

7+ years in privacy, security, or software development, with 4+ years in a role focused on privacy engineering or compliance. Experience establishing and enforcing PbD standards, including data minimization, purpose limitation, and user-centric design. Experience partnering with engineering and product teams to integrate privacy protections into the product development lifecycle. Strong understanding of the SDLC, including experience with Figma diagrams, analyzing data flows, and ability to draft requirements for software engineers. Deep understanding of privacy laws and standards (GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27701, etc.), secure software development practices, and privacy-enhancing technologies. CIPP, CIPT, CISSP, or equivalent privacy/security certifications. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical teams. Clear, compassionate communication to build trust across teams. Adaptability – to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. You’ll have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity or commissions. The compensation for this role is $94,700.00 - $192,100.00 / Year
