Director, Patient Advocacy
**Job Description** The Patient Advocacy Director is responsible for supporting the execution of the Organon Patient Advocacy future vision, strategy and roadmap. The goals of the Organon Patient Advocacy effort are as follows: + Use patient voices to drive **bold and aggressive advancements in women’s health and general medicines therapeutic areas: research, development, and access** ​ + Partner with global women’s health and general medicines advocacy organizations to take a **patient-centered approach, addressing critical unmet needs in women’s health** ​ + Leverage Organon’s unique capabilities to **empower and support patient advocacy organizations** The Patient Advocacy Director reports into the Head, R&D Strategy & Transformation within the Innovation Strategy & Integration (ISI) team. This role requires effective collaboration with cross functional teams across Organon to drive key advocacy related projects. This role will be required to establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and agreement. The Director is responsible for identifying, developing, and establishing strategic partnerships with external advocacy organizations in the women’s health ecosystem. They will actively help women’s health advocacy organizations be impactful with their efforts. The role is enterprise-wide, not just R&D-focused. Success in this role depends on a candidate’s ability to develop relationships with cross functional teams and external women’s health advocacy organizations. This role will be knowledgeable of a wide range of advocacy, government affairs, development, marketing, and programmatic skills. Additionally, it will include the development and execution of initiatives to support our partners such as white papers, seminars, and roundtables. These skills will be essential so that the Director can create short and long-term plans for partner retention and identification of new strategic partnership opportunities. + Work closely with the Head of R&D Strategy & Transformation and internal stakeholders (Head of R&D, Head of Medical Affairs, Head of Government Affairs/Policy, etc.) to develop a Patient Advocacy capability that supports the execution of advocacy-related activities across Organon + Develop an integrated advocacy strategy for Organon + Establish OGN advocacy mission, strategy & priorities + Partner with advocacy organizations and maintain day to day contact, including leading and supporting externally-facing advocacy initiatives, publications, deliverables, and conferences + Actively support the advocacy community with deliverables (white papers, seminars/roundtables, speaking events, etc.) + Create visibility/alignment of advocacy activities at Organon via a community of practice + Maintain advocacy budget + Drive a culture of inclusivity, respect, innovation and entrepreneurism **Required Education, Experience and Skills** + Minimum 8 years of experience supporting and interacting with women’s health patient organizations either within healthcare (pharmaceutical/medical devices) or the non-profit space + Prior nonprofit advocacy experience a plus + Bachelor’s degree required with 8 years of related experience (6 years with Master’s degree). + Patient centricity: demonstrated ability to understand, champion, and problem-solve the needs of patients particularly in the unmet need/underserved areas of women’s health. Willingness to be a visionary and leader to drive change and adoption. + Strategic problem solving and initiative management: Lead and drive advocacy projects utilizing advanced project management skills, excellent strategic thinking skills, and a deep and broad working knowledge of the external women’s health landscape. Have strong experience leading multiple initiatives including skills in relationship management and project management. High degree of initiative and strategic problem solving. + Leadership: Ability to engage and influence senior level stakeholders around strategy, goals, and business outcomes, and drive them towards strategic decisions. Ability to drive and influence work outside of your function. + Collaboration: Work with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner, including the ability to build and maintain critical networks and collaborative relationships. + Oral and Written Communications: Outstanding verbal, written, and executive level presentation abilities and interpersonal skills; + Planning: Support the prioritization and planning of initiatives with available resources. + Performance metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and impact of advocacy initiatives.
