Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The Director, Operations for Communications will support the operational efforts as well financial forecasting and trafficking for the Universal Television Entertainment Group’s communications teams.

Responsibilities include:  

Oversee department budget, identity and implement changes to improve efficiency, reduce costs and optimize workflows.Manage vendor relationships and contracts. Lead negotiations, contract structuring, and long-term relationship management with strategic partners.Partner with EVP to develop workflow and process analysis  processes to enhance cross-departmental productivity and communication.Partner with cross functional teams to shape internal and external communications strategies across multi-title slate.  Coordinate with the Sr Director, Slate Publicity to track communications performance using analytics tools to measure the impact of campaigns and to strategize data-driven adjustments.Innovate central systems for scale and innovation in partnership with teams across the business including the television press site Media Village, DAM systems, Co-Pilot, Emma, Airtable, etc including facilitating broader team adoption through training and education. Analyze current systems and performance, recommending solutions for improvement, innovation and scaling of communications/publicity work. Ensure those systems work in concert with pre-existing systems.Establish a communication structure to report out updates, progress, and project status to stakeholders

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in operations and/or financial planning and tracking, ideally in the entertainment industry.Strong self-starter who can work autonomously A stellar collaborator with cross-functional teamsA proactive multi-tasker, with the ability to prioritize and meet numerous deadlinesServe as an external press-facing representative of the company, evoking NBCU’s values with professionalismA highly effective communicatorAttention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively

Additional Requirements: 

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
