General Summary: The director, under general direction, oversees the daily operations of services and programs administered by the Office of Student Accessibility. In addition to providing reasonable accommodations according to the law, the director will assist students with referrals, develop strong working relationships with faculty, assist with recruiting and retention efforts, and ensure the needs of students with disabilities are met at the institution. Responsibilities: + Oversees the daily operations of services and programs administered by the Office of Disability Services, including coordinating and providing academic accommodations, exam services, faculty training and consultation, conversion of academic materials to alternate formats, and providing assistive technology to qualified students. + Reviews documentation and evaluates for appropriate academic accommodations. Facilitates the implementation of accommodations. Utilizes computer software to manage this process. + Collaborates with academic units to facilitate the educational progress of students with disabilities. + Conducts strategic planning. assessment of services provided, and prepares and administers the departmental budget. + Drafts rules and procedures to implement State and Federal regulations and statutes related to persons with disabilities. + Serves as a leader on the Student Success & Wellbeing team, on University committees, and participates in special projects. + Acts as a liaison and maintains relationships with community, state, and federal agencies. + Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff. + This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. Necessary Qualifications: + Master’s degree. + Seven (7) years of program leadership experience. + Experience providing accommodations to students with documented disabilities. + Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws related to serving students with disabilities. + Ability to determine appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities. + Ability to interpret standard psychological assessments and diagnostic methods for use in determining accommodations. + Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. + Strong verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Preferred Qualifications: + Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology. + Doctorate. + Ten (10) years of program leadership experience. + Experience providing accommodations in a college campus setting.
