Director, Litigation

The Director of Litigation will help oversee and manage all aspects of Flowserve’s litigation portfolio, including complex commercial disputes, regulatory matters, and bankruptcy-related issues. Additionally, this leader will collaborate with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and cross-functional teams to mitigate risks and achieve favorable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

•Litigation Management: Oversee  litigation matters, including commercial disputes, intellectual property, employment, and regulatory issues, ensuring effective resolution and minimal risk to the company.

•Bankruptcy Expertise: Manage bankruptcy-related legal issues, including creditor claims, restructuring agreements, and insolvency proceedings, ensuring compliance and protection of Flowserve’s interests.

•Strategy Development: Develop and implement litigation and risk management strategies that align with Flowserve’s business goals and global operations.

•External Counsel Management: Select, supervise, and collaborate with external legal counsel to ensure cost-effective and high-quality representation.

•Internal Collaboration: Partner with internal teams, including finance, compliance, and operations, to provide legal guidance on litigation and bankruptcy matters.

•Risk Assessment: Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks associated with litigation and bankruptcy, advising senior leadership on potential impacts.\

•Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies; prepare and present reports to senior management and the General Counsel on litigation status and outcomes.

•Negotiation and Settlement: Lead negotiations for settlements, alternative dispute resolutions, and other legal agreements to achieve favorable outcomes.

•Process Improvement: Develop and implement processes to enhance efficiency in litigation and bankruptcy case management, including cost control and documentation.

Qualifications

•Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

•Experience: 4-6 years of relevant legal experience, with a strong background in litigation and bankruptcy matters. Experience in a corporate legal department or law firm handling complex commercial disputes and insolvency proceedings is preferred.

•Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industries such as manufacturing, oil and gas, or industrial services is a plus.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment.

Proficiency in legal research tools and case management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with global or multinational corporations.

Knowledge of international bankruptcy and litigation frameworks.

Demonstrated success in managing high-stakes litigation or bankruptcy cases.
