Job Summary:
We are seeking a Director, Licensing to lead and scale our enterprise-wide licensing function in support of our fintech-driven organization. Reporting to the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, this leader will oversee all aspects of producer, entity, and municipal licensing across multiple jurisdictions and subject matters, ensuring our business maintains the regulatory foundation required for growth.
The Director will manage a team of licensing professionals, drive process excellence, and partner with business leaders to enable new product and market expansion through effective licensing strategies.
Responsibilities:
Lead the licensing function across all states and applicable jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate enterprise-wide filings, renewals, and reporting. Oversee producer and entity licensing for individuals and entities in our portfolio, including monitoring continuing education. Mentor, lead, and develop a high-performing licensing team with a focus on accuracy, scalability, and service excellence. Implement processes, controls, and systems to ensure compliance with multi-jurisdictional and subject matter requirements. Partner with the Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and Compliance teams to align licensing strategy with broader regulatory obligations. Develop, implement, and maintain process improvements for the company’s enterprise licensing management platform, leveraging centralization and automation to support regulatory data, automate workflows, and ensure real-time visibility into licensing obligations. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with state, federal, and international regulatory agencies, including, but not limited to, NAIC, DOIs, SEC, FINRA, FinCEN, CFPB, and industry associations. Monitor licensing-related regulatory changes and proactively adjust processes and policies to ensure compliance. Drive automation and process improvements to create a best-in-class licensing function that supports company growth. Provide regular reporting and metrics on licensing activities, risks, and performance to the VP and senior leadership.This description is not meant to be all-inclusive and may be modified from time to time at the discretion of management.
Education and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required. 10+ years of experience in licensing, compliance, or regulatory operations within insurance, insurtech, legal, or financial services. Deep knowledge of producer and entity licensing requirements across multiple U.S. states and federal jurisdictions. Proven track record of building and leading licensing operations at scale in a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment. Strong operational mindset with experience implementing technology and process improvements in licensing workflows. Ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and collaborate cross-functionally.
