Overview of the Company
MUFG’s Leveraged Capital Markets team is responsible for the origination and execution of high yield bond and leveraged loan transactions. This includes both underwritten and best efforts transactions for corporate and sponsor-owned clients across EMEA.
The team is part of MUFG’s Capital Markets platform and is currently based in London. Consistent with MUFG’s wider Leveraged Finance growth strategy, the team is expanding and setting up a presence in Paris.
Main Purpose of the Role
The role holder will drive origination and execution of high yield bond and leveraged loan transactions across EMEA with particular focus on EU jurisdictions.
In particular, this will involve the following:
Provide corporate finance advice related to capital structures and funding alternatives in the non-investment grade spaceCover key non-investment grade clients from Capital Markets perspectiveIn collaboration with Corporate and Financial Sponsor Coverage teams as well as the Corporate and Leveraged Syndicate team, identify business opportunities, foster relationships and generate ideas for MUFG’s existing and prospective clientsPursue a product-agnostic strategy between high yield and leveraged loans to deliver best advice to clients and maximise revenuePromote global collaboration to ensure best financing solutions are delivered to clients by leveraging MUFG’s global Capital Markets capabilitiesWork closely with Head of EMEA Leveraged Capital Markets and senior management to deliver robust business plans in line with MUFG’s and Capital Markets’ long-term strategic goalsContribute to the overall growth and success of MUFG’s Leveraged Finance strategyManage and mentor junior staffKey Responsibilities
CLIENT DEVELOPMENT
Build and manage key client relationships from Capital Markets perspectiveProactively create new business proposals which meet clients’ needsAnticipate and meet inquiries from our clients with competitive and appropriately-structured solutions to access capital in all of our covered markets/productsWork with internal partners to develop a strategy for both leveraged corporate and sponsor-driven capital markets transactionsBe responsible and accountable for contributing to MUFG’s revenue targets and enhancing the worldwide MUFG franchise through appropriate collaboration within and across regionsPromote appropriate cross-market sales opportunities for other products throughout the MUFG platform with the goal of presenting our client base with a single source of solutions to their capital raising needsClearly explain the risks and rewards of our products to our clients, and provide our clients with all the information they need to make an informed judgment about transactionsLEADERSHIP & STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT
Assist the Head of EMEA Leveraged Capital Markets in setting the strategic direction and objectives in line with divisional and wider MUFG goalsReview of potential growth areas and ensuring strong execution to capture opportunitiesPursue a key growth strategy for the Leveraged Capital Markets teamIdentify operational bottlenecks and help build scalable solutions that drive growth and improve overall business performanceRepresent EMEA Leveraged Capital Markets in front of internal and external stakeholders where requiredRISK MANAGEMENT
Contribute to a strong risk cultureBe accountable for ensuring compliance with all internal and external regulations, guidelines, standards and procedures to protect MUFG’s reputation and activitiesIn the context of the EMEA Leveraged Capital Markets business, help develop and review product related policies, recommending adaptations as appropriate for the particular contextProactively react to client enquiries in a risk-sensitive manner, ensuring proposed solutions that are appropriate for the client and meet the requirements of KYC within the region, while minimizing any economic and reputational risks for MUFGImplement processes and standards ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelinesConduct business in line with regulatory requirements (including Volcker, EMIR and MIFID)PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

Relevant and recent Leveraged Finance experience with an established international institutionExcellent knowledge of high yield bond and leveraged loan products and processesTrack record of leading transactions from idea generation and origination to execution of mandatesExisting relationships with major market participantsSkills and Experience - Functional/Technical Competencies
