Job Description

Overview:
The IT PMO (Project Management Office) Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the IT project portfolio within the organization. This role ensures that all IT projects align with the company’s strategic objectives and follow established standards and processes for execution.  The IT PMO Director works with project managers and operational leaders across the IT organization to ensure projects of all sizes and types are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This role also leads Organizational Change Management (OCM) efforts with IT, ensuring smooth transitions and adoption of new processes, technologies, and systems. The IT PMO Director establishes project management standards, drives continuous improvement in project delivery processes, and fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation.

This position will offer flexibility for hybrid work schedules to include both in-office presence and telecommute/virtual work, to be based in Houston, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

Enhance and extend the IT PMO framework, tools, policies, and procedures to standardize project management practices across the organization.Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.Manage the IT Organizational Change Management (OCM) resources in their activities supporting stakeholder engagement, communication strategies, and training programs to support project adoption.Manage the IT project portfolio, including prioritization, resource allocation, and risk management.Lead and mentor a team of project managers and OCM specialists, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project outcomes.Collaborate with stakeholders to define project and portfolio requirements, objectives, and success criteria, ensuring alignment with organizational change strategies.Monitor project and change management performance, track progress, and report on key metrics to IT leadership.Identify and mitigate project and change-related risks, ensuring proactive issue resolution and stakeholder communication.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery and change management efficiency and effectiveness.Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in IT project management, PMO operations, and OCM.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field plus at least 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including at least 4 years of leadership experience.Prior experience managing an IT PMO organizationProven experience in IT Project Management, PMO leadership, and Organizational Change Management leadership roles.Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid)Experience with LEAN Process Improvement methodologiesExperience with process refinement and automationExperience with OCM frameworks (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR)Extensive experience with ServiceNow, the ServiceNow SPM ModuleExperience with Smartsheet tools for project planning and execution.Extensive experience managing financial budgets and resource allocations and working with an internal Finance organization to accurately project and report financial outlooks.Strong facilitation experience in leading internal workshops.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working within the AEC industryExperience with enterprise IT systems, infrastructure projects, cybersecurity projects, and large-scale organizational change initiatives.Demonstrated success in driving cultural and behavioral changes within organizations.PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certificationStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
