The primary role of the Director, Inside Sales is to manage a team of Senior Sales Managers in the day-to-day activities of the Inside Sales Organization (ISO). S/he is responsible for $140+ million in sales and has oversight for 60-80 Inside Sales Representatives who handle accounts across multiple time zones. This person reports directly to the VP, Inside Sales. The Director, Inside Sales will lead/manage a sales region including both quantitative and human resource goals. S/he will lead by defining clear objectives and effectively coaching the teams to optimal performance. S/he will be responsible for collaborating with numerous corporate, field and inside resources in order to grow the inside sales portfolio. The Director, Inside Sales would be considered a likely successor to the VP, Inside Sales. The Director, Inside Sales is expected to lead with integrity, by adhering to ethical standards of personal conduct and business rules when making decisions or executing tasks and incorporating quality considerations into decision making.
Primary Responsibilities:
Revenue and Profitability:
Develop and execute the ISO sales and margin plan for their region. Expected results are plan achievement accomplished in compliance with all selling activities to Company standards and all federal and state regulations.Leading the Team:
Hire, train, and motivate the management team to effectively grow and generate revenue within their region. Ensure clear understanding of responsibilities throughout the Region and ensure knowledge is dispersed amongst teams engaged in sales and post-sale activities. Establish shared expectations to minimize surprises. Understand and address potential obstacles to proposed solutions. Successfully lead a team of Senior Sales Managers with the expectation of a high standard of performance that exceeds plan and results in growth and promotions at all levels.Customer Focus:
Coordinate efforts with other relevant Office Depot Sales organizations to create a unified and professional customer facing presentation of our capabilities, resulting in a cohesive selling approach that drives profitable growth. Assess and weigh competing requirements from customer needs and corporate goals and objectives against available internal resources to minimize risk, ensure quality deliverables, and balance capabilities with capacity.Increase Sales Confidence:
Ensure provision of training, coaching, and technical assistance for the ISO sales force at all levels resulting in increased customer penetration and growth. Conduct customer listening and provide evaluations, identify gaps, and provide resolutions and/or alternative solutions.Provide Market Intelligence:
Stay in tune with the changing demands of the marketplace and provide Senior Leadership with recommendations for assortment and service enhancement.Protect and Grow Accounts:
Document and clearly communicate account plans and sales forecasts. Ensure accurate understanding of requirements.
Education and Experience:
Level of Formal Education: High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) preferred Area of Study: Business/Sales/Marketing Years of Experience: Minimum 7 to 10 years with the types shown below Type of Experience: Experience managing a sales team Experience managing business relationships Must understand basic selling principles in B2B environment or have the ability to learn Proven track record of staffing, developing and managing an effective and successful sales team with a high customer relationship focus Must have strong coaching/development/motivational skills
