What You’ll Be Doing

The National Industry Programs team is at the forefront of driving growth and innovation within CIBC’s Commercial Banking division. This dynamic team provides sales enablement support to account managers, serves as a trusted resource for risk managers, and develops new programs and marketing strategies to accelerate segment growth.

The Director, Income Producing Properties (IPP), National Industry Programs is a strategic leadership role that shapes the future of CIBC’s IPP program. Reporting to the Market Vice President, National Industry Programs, this role is responsible for driving program innovation, managing risk, and aligning the IPP program with CIBC’s broader Commercial Banking objectives.

As a subject matter expert in commercial real estate, the Director will provide strategic guidance on deal structuring, training, and program development while fostering collaboration across internal and external stakeholders. This role offers unparalleled exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional teams, providing a platform to develop as a strategic leader within CIBC.

As a key driver of innovation and collaboration, you will influence the strategic direction of CIBC’s Commercial Banking and Wealth Management businesses, shaping the client experience and operational excellence across the organization. How You’ll Succeed

1. Strategic Leadership and Program Growth

Develop and execute a strategic growth plan for the IPP program, ensuring alignment with CIBC’s long-term objectives and market competitiveness.Act as a visionary leader, identifying and implementing opportunities for program innovation and expansion to drive sustainable growth.Provide expertise on deal structuring and approval processes, ensuring alignment with Diversified Commercial Banking guidelines and enterprise-level frameworks.

2. Risk Management and Deal Structuring

Coach and mentor Commercial Banking Relationship Managers (RMs) to evaluate deals that balance market competitiveness with risk mitigation.Oversee the pre-clearance process, ensuring deals align with CIBC’s risk appetite.Maintain and enhance the IPP assessment tool to ensure it remains effective, user-friendly, and aligned with evolving market needs.

3. Training and Development

Lead the accredited RM training program, equipping Relationship Managers with the knowledge and skills to excel.Continuously evolve training programs to address changing market dynamics and program requirements.Provide ongoing education and support to front-line teams, enhancing their understanding of the segment,  products, processes, and risk management.

4. Team Management

Manage a centralized team of commercial real estate underwriters, optimizing resource deployment to support front-line teams and program objectives.Foster a high-performance culture that emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.Develop strategies that focus on retention of existing clients and deepening of single product relationships.Act as a mentor and leader, driving engagement and alignment across the team.

5. Reporting and Governance

Oversee reporting and limit management for the IPP program, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.Develop and maintain a governance structure that ensures transparency and accountability in decision-making.Monitor and report on program performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.

6. Stakeholder Collaboration

Serve as a strategic bridge between Risk Management, REFD, and senior leadership, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment.Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to align the IPP program with CIBC’s enterprise-level frameworks and processes.Represent National Industry Programs in cross-functional initiatives, contributing to the broader success of CIBC’s Commercial Banking division.

You have extensive experience in commercial and real estate banking. You have  a proven track record in deal structuring, risk management, and navigating complex approval processes.You have a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, real estate, or a related field.You have strong leadership and team management skills. You have a demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams, manage cross-functional collaboration, and drive engagement. You are a collaborative and inspiring leader who fosters a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.You have experience with strategic program development. You have expertise in designing, implementing, and evolving programs to achieve long-term growth and operational excellence.You have risk management expertise.
