Leads the department in reviewing and managing documentation via retrieving, completing, correcting, amending, transcribing, scanning, archiving, retaining, releasing, and/or filing medical records to support accurate and compliant health information management. Promotes best practices for the analysis and reporting of data by generating reports that can be used internally or for state, federal, or other regulatory agencies that determine issues that may need to be remediated/escalated. Ensures compliance by maintaining expert knowledge and ensuring the department stays up-to-date on industry standards, guidelines, and applicable laws to ensure documentation integrity and compliance. Engages in stakeholder management responsibilities by utilizing collaborative relationships with local and regional stakeholders as well as enterprise-wide communities of practice to ensure effective use of clinical documentation/data and provide consultation on health information policies and procedures. Drives the design of continuous improvement behaviors for teams to leverage when working with other departments to identify improvement opportunities in health information policies and procedures.

+ Oversees the operation of multiple units within a department by identifying member and operational needs; ensures the management of work assignment completion; translates business strategy into actionable business requirements; ensures products and/or services meet member requirements and expectations while aligning with organizational strategies. Gains cross-functional support for business plans and priorities; assumes responsibility for decision making; sets standards, measures progress, and fosters resolution of escalated issues. Communicates goals and objectives; analyzes resources, costs, and forecasts and incorporates them into business plans; prioritizes and distributes resources. Removes obstacles that impact performance; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; ensures teams accomplish business objectives.
+ Ensures compliance by: maintaining expert knowledge, ensuring the department stays up-to-date, and operationalizing new industry standards, guidelines, and applicable laws to ensure documentation integrity and compliance; and representing the organization in legal proceedings as the Custodian of the Medical Records.
+ Oversees continuous improvement efforts by: building collaborative relationships with other departments to identify improvement opportunities in health information policies and procedures, in line with short-term organizational strategy; and leveraging advanced expertise to generate and approve the design, implementation, and evaluation of quality assurance methods to deliver high-quality, cost-effective medical records and health information management for the department.
+ Oversees the analysis and reporting of data by: promoting best practices for gathering and summarizing data to ensure the availability and quality of data and consistency in interpretation of information used internally or for complex reports to guide strategic planning and ensuring continued growth and success.
+ Oversees the review and management of documentation by: leading the department in retrieving, completing, transcribing, scanning, archiving, retaining, releasing, and filing medical records to support accurate and compliant health information management; and driving communications with providers to remedy highly complex documentation deficiencies with state-of-the-art solutions while collaborating with peers as needed.
+ Engages in stakeholder management responsibilities by: working with and building collaborative relationships with local, regional, and enterprise leadership to ensure effective use of clinical documentation/data and provide consultation on health information policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Minimum two (2) years of experience managing operational or project budgets.
+ Minimum five (5) years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
+ Bachelors degree in Health Information Management, Health Care Administration, Business or related field AND minimum nine (9) years of experience in health information management or directly related field OR Minimum twelve (12) years of experience in health information management or a directly related field.
