Purpose of the role:

The role is responsible for leading the branch’s strategic planning process, overseeing general affairs and ensuring operational efficiency and corporate governance. The position serves as a key liaison between Singapore branch and Head Office in Japan, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the safety and soundness of the Singapore office, including legal/regulatory compliance and financial stability, leading the development of a business foundation that supports sustainable growth.

Job Responsibilities:

Contribute to the sustainable growth of the Singapore Branch by planning and promoting various strategies such as business strategy, organizational optimization, operational efficiency, office strategy, and procurement strategy, in alignment with Head Office directives and local market opportunities.

Ensure a financial foundation that supports sustainable growth by formulating financial plans, recommending correct measures and monitoring progress.

Maintain and enhance MUFG Bank's presence in Singapore by smoothly coordinating with external stakeholders such as regulatory authorities and embassies.

Liaise with Head Office in Japan on strategic, operational and governance matters.

Oversee office administration, facilities management and procurement management.

Manage the performance, development and recognition efforts for direct and indirect reports, ensuring effective cascade of branch, regional and organization objectives.

Understand the expectations of regulatory authorities and proactively strengthen internal controls across the organization to ensure legal/regulatory compliance.

Job Requirements:

Degree qualified

Minimum 12 years of working experience in banking

Strong strategic planning skills, with solid knowledge of corporate governance

Proven ability to coordinate effectively across multiple functions and stakeholders

Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to influence at senior levels

Strong coaching, mentoring and leadership skills to manage and develop a team

Business level proficiency in Japanese (spoken and written) is required to liaise with Head Office and stakeholders in Japan, to understand the Japanese policies and documentations and to review its alignment with Head Office policy
