Purpose  

 

Directs, controls & operates trading activities in relation to EFX Market Making at Scotiabank. Directs an effective trading strategy to develop new, profitable business as well as further developing existing relationships to achieve sustainable revenue growth. Build and develop strong algorithmic trading and FX execution products. Manage technical strategy to underpin growth aspirations for EFX Market Making business and facilitate integration with wider bank – retail, payments, wealth and branch networks. Act as a senior member of the FX trading team to assist in making data driven decisions which will grow the FX Franchise across all products.   

 

This role falls into scope under the Certification Regime and requires the individual to be internally ‘Certified’ as a significant harm function.

 

 

Accountabilities  

 

Lead and manage EFX trading as part of the GBM platform.   Lead the growth of FX Spot trading:   Lead the Spot trading business  Manage the delivery of spot automated risk management tools.  Manage the delivery of FX algo trading solutions  Maximise revenue growth for FX Spot, within bank risk tolerances.  Support the growth of FX Swaps, outrights and NDF volumes with the STIR leadership team.  Working closely with the GBM FX technology team to drive day to day development, prioritization and management of technology systems that make up the EFX suite of products and cross-division interfaces.  Work closely with the FX Sales teams to foster new and existing client relationships.  Anticipate changes in the industry and client requirements to assist in driving roadmap for the EFX platform.   Ensure stability of trading system and deal with risk and manage client expectations during system outage events.   Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.  Drive best practices within cross-product electronic relationships and support management of cross-product electronic trading.  Generates and maximizes trading profit and client revenues. Understands the risk profile of transactions and puts processes in place to manage those risks.   Manage and ensure Best Execution, and regulatory requirements for the firm are adhered to.   Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.   Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values and Code of Conduct, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.   Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
