What is the opportunity?
The Director, Governance & Integration will have accountability for two main areas:
1) Governance: Lead the creation of senior executive materials going to critical governance forums such as, the Executive Sustainability Council, forthcoming Sustainable Finance governing body, Group Executive and the Board of Directors. This will include oversight for ongoing updates to the Sustainable Finance Framework, including the addition of new areas of focus and the development of methodologies to support them. Successful execution will require close partnership with the SVP, Sustainability and Impact (S&I) and the senior management team to understand priorities and key asks and translate that into an executive-level narrative. This part of the portfolio will provide the successful candidate with a horizontal line of sight and visibility to key priorities for the Sustainability & Impact team.
2) Integration: Supporting the business management and integration of the Sustainability and Impact team. This includes activities such as and not limited to, the creation of an integrated workplan of key initiatives that intersect across the team’s portfolios for a holistic view, having pulse on how each team in the S&I group are tracking to contribute to the team wide goals, supporting employee engagement, organizing team townhalls and meetings, etc. Integration of the Sustainable Finance Framework into the business is also in scope, including the creation of materials and sessions for front-line education on Sustainable Finance across lines of business.
What will you do?
Partner with the S&I leadership team to ensure alignment, understand interdependencies and priorities for an integrated view of a masterplan
Lead the preparation of materials and initiatives as required for senior governance forums and communicates a clear vision and ‘the story’ effectively to key senior stakeholders
Know how to incorporate the needs and asks of multiple stakeholders in a timely manner
Track with key actions from the various forums on S&I team priorities to ensure timely and coordinated execution by required teams. Serve as Secretary of the Executive Sustainability Council for this purpose.
Understand how each team within S&I contributes to the team’s broader goals and flags any risks, considerations, new ideas
Lead the engagement of the team through various events and initiatives (e.g. events, townhalls, education sessions) acting as the business manager and chief of staff for the team
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
3 years’ relevant industry experience, specifically in consulting, strategy, and/or project or program management.
Undergraduate degree within business, sustainability or related field.
Key capabilities required will be project management, storyboarding, communication and stakeholder management.
Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills, coupled with a strong interest in further developing strategic skillset.
Strong analytical, problem solving, time management and organizational skills.
Nice to have
Management consulting experience.
Knowledge of key concepts in Sustainable Finance.
Experience with senior RBC decision-makers
